Without commenting on a named person I will comment on the reporting. I put this in another thread regarding sports radio. I was driving back from Austin with my wife this past weekend and was trying to find some British Open playoff updates. I found ESPNs Austin affiliate and they had these two college and pro football guys talking. They were both ex-players. Anyways, Carr in Carolina and Harrington in Atlanta came up. They were horrible. I mean the minute Carr came up they said, "well he might have a shot because he really never had a chance in Houston." They pretty much made 10 jokes about, "how can you do well with a LB, a D-lineman and a safety draped on you." Did anyone outside of this town actually watch the games or out any effort into really looking at the team?I'm still waiting for the "bring back Couch" rants since he was in the same position

Future starter? As in when Jake Delhomme deceides to hang up the cleats or possibly gets injured?
Seriously why do people hose the guy? Last year was his first down year as a starter for the Panthers and out of the gate he was missing the critical piece that made that offense go in Steve Smith. Smith is healthy this year. DeAngelo will be healthy this year, Deshaum Foster should be ready to go. They prolly will also be incoporatin Dwayne Jarrett in the offense pretty quickly and he at least on paper looks like an ideal receiver opposite of Smith. Might not be an explosive offense but i am willing to bet they'll be in the top half and that's all they need to do with the defense they have. Honestly I hope HWWNBN finds a measure of success in the NFL long as he's not playing the Texans. But if any sports writer thinks he's going to step in light it up and take Jake's job this or next year is quite frankly DELUSIONAL. I'd also like to point out the similarities of Delhomme and Schaub. At the end of the 2002 season the Panthers sign FA Jake Delhomme of the NO saints. I think some people think Jake Delhomme 'over achieved' for a number of years and that last season was more indicative of Jake's talent level... Just a thought.

Carr is a good QB, the Texans line was **** when he was here.
You dumb asses don't understand that Schaub will be AS BAD as Carr or even worse. You idiots will be CRYING when Carr leads the Panthers to the playoffs and Schaub throws 18 INTs gets sacked 50 times and leads the Texans to a 4 win season. |

For the last 5 seasons he would have been the guy under the D-lineman after each snap for the Texans. He is also best know for resetting the trash cans the Texans have used for an O-line over that period of time and his fancy hair.

I believe you guys when you discuss Carr's faults.
One common ground we have as Texans & Titans fans is being small market teams not well known nationally. No one knows a team as well as it's own fans & it grates on us when an analyst who clearly has no clue makes a comment on where we're at. No matter what you think of Carr there are still coaches who think they can fix him. I like Delhome but the Panthers believe they are contenders & any hiccup's this year will likely see Carr get his shot. If he's a success I dare say most Texans fans wouldn't care less but it would make for an interesting debate. |
