NFL players teach football at South Robeson

ROWLAND - Vonta Leach's involvement in his annual football camp at his alma mater South Robeson High could have been minimal. The Houston Texans fullback could have donated some money, made an appearance and slapped his name on the one-day gridiron tutorial for Robeson County youth.

But as Leach zoomed around the facilities at South Robeson on a golf cart, reminding camp instructors of water breaks and participating in drills, it was clear that he was not about to take a hands-off approach to the project.

“There are some things he can do that are more fun for him,” South Robeson football coach Willie George said. “You hear players say it all the time, ‘I want to give back.' Well, Vonta doesn't talk. He walks the walk.”
