Chronic: Ahman Green looking good and Charles Spencer update

Texans34Life

I BLEED TEXANS!

Odds of Charles Spencer being ready to go by camp? 25%
Odds of Charles Spencer starting the season on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list? 75%

Word around Texans-ville is that they are hoping that Spencer makes it back by camp but the PUP list is looking more an more inevitable unless Spencer's rehab accelerates sometime soon. So what does that mean for the Texans? It means that Ephraim Salaam better button the hat up tight and get ready to protect the man worth two second round picks.

Everyone surrounding the Texans can't stop raving about Ahman Green. When Green was with the Packers (under Mike Sherman), Sherman felt very strongly that Green was at his best when he shared some of the workload, so look for Ron Dayne to remain involved in the offense this year. Still, if last year was any indication, Green has enough left in the tank to have a direct impact on at least four wins by himself. The variables are going to be whether he can stay healthy and whether or not Matt Schaub and the defense can step up and impose their will on certain games that lead to wins.

Totally agree. I've been saying this for months. Green comes to Houston and works the tandem with Dayne. All players are important, but these guys staying healthy is the keystone to Houston's offensive success. Lundy, too, will be important and expected to carry more of the load as the season goes on. The Texans played very poorly last year until they could establish a run game, and Green is the kind of running back who will force lanes to open up, regardless of who plays tackle or center. If Green and Dayne can force the Defense to respect the run, it will provide opportunities for AJ, KW, and OD.
