If he is under the legal limit, no charge. The Bears should have waited until they had hard evidence. As the story says... Sgt. Andrew Duncan, a police spokesman, said Johnson was arrested for "DUI Impaired to the Slightest Degree" but was released without being booked or charged. Duncan said Johnson was taken to the Gilbert police station, where officials drew blood for a blood-alcohol content test before his release. He described Johnson as "very cooperative." It was too easy to pull the trigger on that one.
smh, Tank should know better.

In related news, it has been reported that Tank Johnson was signed as a free agent by the Cincinatti Bengals.

Let's see how long it takes until someone says "The Texans should sign him"

The only reason I read this thread was to see who would suggest it.

really though.. with our suppurb organization I bet we could bring him in and he would do well. It is what he is around up there in Chicago that makes him a mess. Bring him down here to the good ole boys and his character would change..

Hey..... The Texans could use another DL that could provide solid and valuable depth.

By itself, driving 40 m.p.h. in a 25 zone at 3:30 a.m. and "being impaired to the slightest degree," in the words of Gilbert Police Sgt. Andrew Duncan, would not be enough to terminate employment immediately. But the Bears have been holding Johnson's hand for the last two years, since June 11, 2005, when he was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun after Chicago police found a loaded 9-mm Ruger in his parked car outside a downtown nightclub.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...-sportstop-hed ******************************** The proverbial straw that broke the camels back ? At any rate, there probably were gobs of slicky lawyers who could fret very little about who they put back on the streets, they are only after the legal fees, er I mean seeing that all defendants get their due legal representation, day in court, constitutional rights protected, etc. I imagine they could have beat this rap easy, but hats off to the Bears. They removed that option from the table by cutting Johnson outright and abruptly. Yup, it's gonna be fun to see who picks him up and read their rationalizations about their reasoning for doing that. |

Kudos to the bears for doing this outright. They finally did something right this offseason the first time around.
I don't get why these guys insist on driving when they know their career is on the line with the slightest blip on the radar. I think someone might take the risk on him for a small price and limited contract. We're set at DT but i'm thinking the someone like the dolphins who need to get younger on the dline. |

Amobi, TJ, Zgonia(sp), Maddox stepped in and played well enough to earn a spot last year. I expect hose 4 to be the rotation going into the season. Not sure about Malone and Thomas Johnson on top of those. I think we're set and we don't need a NT.
I wouldn't bother wasting time or a contract on Tank. I'm sure he'll find a job somewhere where they can afford the risk and are looking for interior help. I just don't think this is the place. After what we've done the past few years...all of our Dline had better be set. |

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/10119182 Clubs will be subject to discipline in cases involving violations of the Personal Conduct Policy by club employees. In determining potential club discipline going forward, the commissioner will consider all relevant factors, including the history of conduct-related violations by that club's employees... If a team signs a Tank Johnson and he gets in trouble again they could potentially lose draft picks. Not to mention some amount of money, a roster spot and the time and effort involved with dealing with him. Is Tank Johnson worth it? Not in my opinion. |

As harsh as Goodell has been, do you want to be the one that tests the limits of the vague wording?
