Bright future as in going down in flames.

I did not know this. Losing Pacman is going to hurt them more than they realize....fortunately for us.

Yeah. They want to spout off about our O-line, but even it wasn't last.

That's funny....I seem to recall the stories were even worse last year about the Titans.

Feel good about yourselves now.....Because you know when the season starts they will be singing a different tune about those Titans.

I don't understand why your average titanfan always refers to last season as being a great success. They didn't win the game at the end of the season that would have put them in the playoffs, hence...no playoffs. They had a player suspended for stomping on an opponents noggin. Their qb was almost last in his passer rating (and he was their first round pick). Their defense was dead last in yards surrendered.

And yet they always say it was a great thing.

The Texans know what the bottom is like and I don't believe they have any intention of returning there soon....the titans however, are about to find what it's like to have the crap beat out of them on Sunday afternoons.

Default Re: A story about the Titans bright future

going to be tough going for the Titans, no Bruce Mathews on that line to help out

no Eddie George to help out unless Chris Henry can do something and defensively no kearse, maybe Griffin will help out but pac-man and his stupidity really hurts talentwise in that secondary, teamwise, who knows they might be better

Quote:
1994: Without Warren Moon the Oilers get off to a miserable start losing 9 of their first 10 games before Coach Jack Pardee is fired and replaced by Jeff Fisher. Under Fisher the losing would continue as the Oilers lost their next 5 games, before beating the New York Jets 24-10 in their final game of the season to finish with a 2-14 record.

1995 With an eye to the future the Oilers draft QB Steve McNair with the 3rd overall draft pick. However, McNair would start the season on the bench behind free agent signee Chris Chandler. Chandler would play solid football as the Oilers showed improvement in their first full year under Jeff Fisher finishing with a 7-9 record. However, the story of the season comes on November 16th when Bud Adams announces plans to move the team to Nashville when the lease at the Astrodome expires in 1998.

1996: Houston fans express their displeasure with Oilers move by staying away in droves. Playing most of the season in front of crowds of less then 20,000 at the Astrodome the Oilers only win 2 out of their 8 games at home. However, on the road they win 6 out of 8 as the Oilers finish with an 8-8 record. Houston fans would get a tease as RB Eddie George won the Offensive Rookie of the Year with 1,368 yards rushing for the lame duck Oilers. Following the Oilers make a deal with the city of Houston to break their lease a year early, meaning the season would be the last in Houston. The Oilers would end up losing their final game at the Astrodome 21-13 to the Cincinnati Bengals. After the Oilers left for Music City the city of Houston led by Bob McNair began making plans to get a NFL team back in Houston. Though considered underdogs McNair impressed NFL's expansion committee and the NFL returned to Houston in 2002 with a team called the Texans.

Probably because they only won a handful of games the previous two seasons combined and came one game from the playoffs with one of the worst defenses in the NFL in a "rebuilding" season. I thought that team was wildly successful last season despite having a sieve for a defense and starting a rookie QB with no real go to WR.

wolf.....Mathews and George have been long gone....

Success can only be measured by achieving your goals, and their goal was to reach the playoffs, which was within their grasp.....all they had to do was win the last game. IMO, they were no more successful than the Texans. Home during the playoffs as we were.

vince had some pretty good receivers last season...which team were you looking at vinny? whether or not he can put the ball in the right spot is probably not fair to those wr's, which is why receivers were not knocking the door down to play for Bud's Crew this season.

Well, then, maybe this is the season to see if Vince is Superman.

The big story for his junior year at Texas was that his receivers were all too young and inexperienced for Texas to win it all.

But then again, it is hard to make chicken salad outta chicken beaks.

Technically not correct although 5 of the 8 games were very poorly attended (four in the 20's and 30's but only one -- the last one -- was less than 20).

Three of the games that year were very well attended -- Miami , SF, and Pitt ... one 47k and two at 50k+

Bingo! Why shouldn't we be optimistic.

You guys should be able to understand that. In the dictionary is a pic of a Texans fan right next to the word optimistic.
