I just wanted to point out that there is more than one way to skin a cat (no pun intended).. and that even though DD has been struggling rushing.. he has been superb when it comes to catching balls out of the backfield.
DD currently has 26 receptions for 250 yards.. at a 9.6 yards per reception average... over the course of 6 games LT has 23 receptions for 209 yards at a 9.1 yard per reception average... over the course of 8 games So, DD is doing a better job of receiving than LT .. especially when you consider that, while he played in 6 games.. he probably has only played the majority of the time in 3 or 4 of them. Obviously he isnt rushing as well as LT, but my point is that even though he isnt rushing as well, he has still been a big part of our offense.. and has been making plays for us. BTW.. just to put it in perspective. I used LT as an example because he is an RB known for rushing and catching balls out of the backfield. However, the Vikings are the kings of dumping it off to their RB, and lead the league in that stat. Mewelde Moore in 6 games has 27 receptions for 238 yards, at an 8.8 average. and Onterrio Smith in 3 games has 15 receptions for 223 yards, a 14.9 average. Oh.. and as long as ive started a thread on this. Tony Hollings. 2 receptions for 30 yards, 15.0 average. 9 carries for 32 yards, 3.6 average (better than davis or wells). WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SEE MORE OF HOLLINGS!!!!! |

I think the main issue with DD is that he is injury prone.
He's certainly talented, running or catching, but if he's on the bench hurt he's not going to help the team. |

I just really hope he gets it going as the season progresses. It would be nice to have him a full go for these next 3 games.

we should draft a runningback and keep DD as our Third down back or to catch balls for 6 - 10 yrds.
And we should draft a speedy running back not a powerfull guy. someone like Caddy Will Reyes from syricuse brown from auburn or a late pick on sproles, bush, K.J harris |

I dont agree on the speed running back.... we have hollings. If we were going to draft an RB.. id say we need a large RB who can be our every down guy.. and Hollings and/or Davis as our change of pace.
As much as our coaches like to run.. we need someone who can not only take the beating that comes with that.. but can wear down defenses with his power.. and come up with consistent yardage. A speedy back can break free for big runs.. but he will get stuffed for little or no gain more often. We need a Jerome Bettis, or Jamal Lewis. |

Yeah, a big downhill would be an excellent compliment to the shifty DD. We do need to get DD involved in our offense though. He's got too much talent for him not to be on the field. Wells is OK, but someone better would be nice.

i still think D.D is our running back of the future (seems crazy right) I just think he's so talented and we can use him in the backfield our out in the flats catching passes ! And once he gets his feet back and has the patience he had last season he will be fine ! Maybe he will acomplish that 2,000 yards next season i got faith he can do it !

I agree DD is a talented player.. and I think as far as talent goes.. he is talented enough to be our starter. I just dont think he is resilient enough. He is getting injured EVERY game.

The NFL is a what have you done for me lately league .... Im hoping DD will get it together , a lot of things have had a negative effect on him this season . Start with the new blocking scheme , add in the injuries , fumbles and you have a loss of confidence . Production from the running game has suffered as a result . J.Wells has been a nice surprise though. Last week against the Jag's DD did just enough in the running game to make play action effective . had a couple big plays recieving and did his usual great job in pass protection.... he's due for a break out game , lets hope he has it this week against the Bronco's . They do have a lot of injuries / problems defensively .
