It will be very interesting to see whom the Pats will let go.
Kelly Washington signed for 4 years and $22M, I believe. Stallworth could earn as much as $3.6 million in 2007, including a $1 million signing bonus, a $700,000 base salary, and a $300,000 workout bonus. Stallworth also could earn $1.6 million in the form of a roster bonus, although it is unknown whether that is a one-time payment or on a game-by-game basis. (Boston Globe) Welker received a $1.3M qualifying offer from the Dolphins, so the Pats ought to pay more to yank him away from Miami. (2,100+ yards from scrimmage last year, including KR and PR.) Caldwell salary cap number for 2007 is $1.65M (KFFL.com) and he played very well last year for NE, especially down the strecth and in the play-offs (61 recpts reg season, 16 in the playoffs.) The Pats had to restructure Tom Brady's contract to accomodate Randy Moss. That makes Gaffney the cheapest among the seven (and as I've mentioned before, he burned Dunta for a TD last year, ouch!) There's rumor that they might put Jackson on PUP. (give him money so he can sit, sounds familiar, LOL.) |

New England is the only team that might cut someone significant?

Jets may cut WR Justin McCareins due to salary cap.
Seems like the Titans are interested in a trade. Don't know if the Texans want to play chess with them or not. |

First thought is we can't out bid them, but they did not go too hot & heavy in the FA market. So..

Or we can wait until the Jets cut him and goes into a bidding war with the Titans. The cap hit for the Jets is around $3M instead of $1M after today. They probably want to make a trade for next year draft pick, I would think. |

I dunno.
The Jets gave up a 2nd rounder for him before. The Sporting News reported at least a 4th rounder is what the Jets wants now. The Titans seem unwilling to part with a 2nd, even as Justin's agent said that they are open to rework his contract. So our 3rd definitely will do it, and he will give us speed. Maybe the Jets will even settle for our 4th, for the Titans think Justin might not fit their new game plan (more shorter passes for Young). |

We might end up being able to add people in August when other teams cut their rosters down to 75 and then 53 players (remember we picked up Ron Dayne, Anthony Maddox, Thomas Johnson, Vonta Leach, and a few others at that point or later in the season).

I think the fact that we are still not picking up extra guys says alot for the level of competition on the practice field. when the august cuts come, we may have a hard time deciding who to cut ourselves, let alone looking at other teams cast offs. I like it.
