Would Kailee's cap savings be enough to pay for Sam Adams?

I dont care if Sam Adams is a run stuffing DT. He can still help mentor Okoye and here's why:

1) He's a 3 time pro bowler. Surely he knows some tricks that could help Okoye.

2) He was a big reason that SB Ravens defense was one of the best ever.

3) He has 14 years NFL/Playoff/Super Bowl experience. Maybe he learned something?

Plus, he doesn't just help Amobe, he helps out our linebackers by occupying blockers. DeMeco becomes Ray Lewis hopefully!!!

Thats a great post.

You dont have to play the same tech. or even position to mentor someone. This guy would occupy TWO OL. Meaning the numbers would be stacked on our side now. He's no spring chicken anymore, so we're not going to get 30 snaps out of him. Get him at a good price and maximize his talents on and off the field. I'm sure he's seen it all.

Interesting that he is coming for a visit.

I worry about the Texans some against the run, and if Sam can play, he'd be interesting to see in a Texans uni. It will be interesting if they can make this make sense.

From Sam's perspective, he has the benefit to coming back to his home town. For someone who has moved around a lot, it might be nice to have tha familiarity. No state income tax helps too.

Nothing like coming home to retire. He has a year, maybe two, tops. Why would he not do it? (Besides the theory that we suck and will always suck)

That has inspired me to form a weight loss program for Travis Johnson. Just have Sam Adams follow him everywhere he goes, and TJ will be lucky if he can assemble a few scraps during each meal as Adams tears through the food. Think of it as portion reduction, and maybe even some exercise if they have to compete for it.

LenDale White thinks of that as his morning snack.

If he can still play, sign him up. The better the D-line the better the secondary, atleast IMO.

That's the question. Buffalo released him after the '05 season because they thought Adams was through. Cincy did the same after last season. Neither of those teams are teeming with quality DTs. But, the Texans don't have a jumbo-sized DT like Adams, and it makes sense that DL coach Franklin would want him.

but do you really sign a guy that has like 30 tackles in the last 2 years and no sacks and take up a roster spot for locker room presence? I thought that was what Zgonina was for? I dont like the idea personally. they are both so similar, I just dont think we need 2 guys that have the same talent(minimal) and fill the same role.

I'd rather have them sign a veteran DE that can show mario and okoye some pass rush expertise.

Regarding your assertion that the Texans need a veteran DE, I think Kalu fills that role. And if Adams can't play, he shouldn't get a roster spot for what he does in the locker room. But, maybe guys like Amobi & TJ could pickup something from Big Sam in training camp. I don't see a problem with signing Adams and finding out in camp if he has anything left.

Exactly, just because you sign the does not mean he will stay on the roster all the way through camp. I am sure the Texans coaching staff will be honest and upfront about every position, like they have been all along.

Does anyone know what happened with his visit? Has it been postponed? Was he not worth it? I figured they would've had it up on the main site by now.

Fox26 showed an interview it had with him at the airport last night. Didn't get to hear it all so I'm not sure if he was coming in or leaving. Seemed interested in coming home and said he had a lot left in the tank. Didn't hear the rest so if someone else did, maybe they could give a better synopsis.
