Honest truth, and I've not said anything up to this point...I'd most like to see us take a lineman...EITHER line...whichever is the BPA. All of the best teams throughout history have had either strong Olines or Dlines or both. Sorry to run out yet another cliche', but the game is usually won or lost in the trenches.

I agree 100%. The so-called 'ugly pick' is not so ugly to me. Championship teams are built on the foundations of solid offensive & defensive lines. For some reason, this team has never quite learned that lesson. (Hopefully that class is over soon.)

If I knew Spencer could return sometime this season, I'd be ok with Salaam/Jordan Black. I am rather frustrated that Staley is rising like a rocket as I was hoping to pick him in 2nd round after a trade down from #10. I like this LT but obviously others do too.

We've picked a defensive lineman with our #1 picks in the past 3 drafts.

My lesson comment was more directed at building the o-line. I should've been more specific.

Kinda' crazy that we've spent three first round picks on d-line, but it's still a major work in progress. I don't have a lot of confidence in TJ and Babin, either.

Once a team gets some decent talent, say at d-line, then three more things are needed:

1) Coaching
2) Willingness to work hard
3) Coaching

In the poast we've lacked on items 1 and 3. We may finally see some change in that.

I don't have any problem with Babin though, he had always been a solid contributor. Maybe not worth the position he was drafted at, especially now that we're playing the 4-3, but with Peek gone, we may see him get a little more playing time.

Rite, and the Texans gonna draft a guy like Jamaal Anderson!
Even if that's the case, they can always move Weaver inside more often, can't they?

I'm hesitant to call TJ a bust, but if he brings a fat butt to camp again, I'd have to say that his dedication to playing football has to be in question.

If Babin can improve his production on the same scale with his "hopefully" increasing time (however little much it might be) as an edge rusher, it would be great. I like the guy, but I thought we can trade him.

I think we will see some veterans leave roster this year. Possibilities: Hodgdon, Gado, Steve McKinney, Flannagan, Wong, Travis Johnson and Jerome Mathis (better come on strong as WR because I think the team will have other options on returns this season).

Ultimately, I don't think really anything has changed with the story as they have said since the end of last season:

1. They've said they aren't going to count on any injured players as being alright. If they are, it will be gravy.

2. They are going to take the BPA and not reach for need.

3. They were going to use the offseason to make it less necessary to reach for need and to create depth.

4. Spencer's injury is a serious one and an unusual one for a football player. (Makes it particularly hard to project recovery time). It is going to take time to see how he will be able to play.

As to #1, they said that they are counting on Anthony Weaver being ready to go. But you probably posted this before the Smith conference, so you probably know that.
