Raiders Disappointed They Couldn't Get Schaub

Of all the rumors coming out of Oakland in the weeks leading up to the draft, two things are certain: The Raiders remain undecided as to which direction they will go with the first overall pick, and they were very disappointed in their inability to acquire Falcons QB Matt Schaub, who was traded to the Texans in March. Schaub had worked with new Raiders offensive coordinator Gregg Knapp in Atlanta, and they had high hopes for building around him right away.

Interesting--wonder where the critical decision was made--Schaub or Oakland.

That's the problem when two teams want a QB with more upside then experience, one team ends up overpaying!:texflag:

I'm still puzzled why the Raiders didn't pounce on Jay Cutler last year with their #7 overall ? He might not have had the West Coast "golden boy" resume of Leinert, but had the big gun that the Raiders like in their QBs and was also more athletic than Leinert.

Same reason we passed on Young...overconfident in the current QB. Aaron Brooks was a disaster much like Carr was last season. In a bit of a different way, but the same end result.

No one finds it scary that the Raiders and Texans had the same interest in QB's considering the wreck of a franchise that has been the Raiders for several seasons?

I think quite a few teams were interested in Shaub, but they are not making it known in the media like the Raiders have in this story.

Al Davis does not believe in drafting a QB in the first round. Watch this season they will take Johnson and put in some scrub at QB.
