I dont see how this is an even an argument?
Normal people are allowed to ride motorcycles, but some NFL players are not. Normal people can take performance enhancing "supplements" but NFL players can not. Why is there a difference? Because 1 of them is being paid millions and millions of dollars to be not only a football player but a role model. Does your day job put in a stupid behavior clause in your contract? No? Then how can you compare yourself to Mario. He was performing a risky behavior, something that is SURELY against his contract. if you want to break down into black and white then look at it like this. he was breaking his contract and risking the lives of himself and anyone on the road. How is that "boys will be boys?" This whole its ok because no one got hurt is stupid. If I go out on 610 and drive 150 mph and don't get pulled oveer how is it any less breaking the law? And don't give me the "you have sped before" because while I've sped before, i've never made it anywhere NEAR speeds those dangerous. And I'd be willing to bet 99% of you haven't either.

If Mario wants to risk himself and his life, then that is disappointing, but it's his business.
If Mario wants to risk the lives of others without their having a say in it--i.e. racing around the freeway at incredibly unsafe speeds--then I have to draw a line. I don't care how much I look up to a guy as a football player. I didn't see the video and I am assuming it isn't sufficient to get him arrested, but whatever your thoughts on Mario as a football player or whether or not he should be held to a higher standard as a highly visible role model ... it doesn't give him a license to jeopardize other lives. We have laws against that kind of thing and he should be punished appropriately--whether that is suspension of his license or jail time or community service or something else.

LMAO... Me too.
I have differing - conflicting points of view on this: First, I agree with Barkley's comments years ago about athletes "not" being role models for kids. Second, don't NFL players have certain boiler plate language in their contracts that prohibit, idiotic behavior? I would think if the commish saw any of these videos and truly beleived it to be Mario, than I would think Mario would be standing before the man. Third, if it is Mario at the club throwing money I hope someone pulls him aside and makes him aware of the potential ramifications of those actions. Last, Mario needs to understand the microscope he is under being the "contraversial first pick" of last years draft - and that every little thing he does will be scrutinized up, down and sideways..

![]() Look at Mario with these little kids. How can we stay mad at him? ![]() p.s. I agree with Vinny about recklessness with high speeds on a public road, as well as gtexan02's mention of holding these guys to a higher standard. Just my $0.02 |

I think the Chronic or some publication needs to ask Mr. Williams how often he puts himself and others in harms way in such an irresponsible manner.

I didn't get to see the video before they removed it, but what it shows to me is TOTAL immaturity to not only drive that fast and endanger everyone around you, but then to make sure two people filmed it and display it for the world on the internet. Has he lost his mind?
I hope someone has a talk with him.I want him to be healthy and in one piece. ANd Vinny, love the my little pony avatar. I have a whole suitcase full of those if you need any more. LOL And props to the old smilies.... |

Jerome Solomon on his radio show said he hadn't spoken to Mario about it yet, but would be sure to.

first off let mario throw his money around at the clubs what does that matter to us, its his money and if he wants to throw it away then let him, i dunno why yall are makin a big deal about it. and about speeding, yall are tellin me that if you just bought a brand new car, you wouldnt go on the freeway and punch it to see what its got, everybody is makin a big deal out of nothin, let the players do what they wanna do in the offseason and stop babyin them, there grown men

I said earlier that I have done the stupid thing and drove on i-10 at 150 mph before (more than once).
I also said I hope one of his teammates a vetern talks to him and let him know how dumb a move it is. That he needs to conduct himself better because the public is always watching. The club scene happened two months ago. Hopefully after seeing what has happened to Ms pac-man (frogger at best), he gets a reallity check. We all know some people cause the problem in hopes of being able to getmoney from the players.

Anybody doing anything above a 100 on any interstate is not only taking their own life in their hand's, but also everybopdy else on the same stretch of road. I-45 and teh same as TMS, one is designed to handle cars moving at high speeds the other is designed to handle a lot of cars all going about the same speed; there is a difference. |

It will probably matter a hell of a lot to you when he kills your <insert relative here > I can't believe someone would even think about saying that is no big deal. It's totally irresponsible, and if he hit someone and actually lived to tell about it, he would be imprisoned for a very long time. As far as I am concerned, if you are going faster than 100, and cause the death of another person due to your reckless driving, I say give them the death penalty, because that is pre-mediated murder as far as I am concerned.
