can someone tell me why we resigned van pelt? If it comes down to both schaub and rosenfels being hurt we can always activate porter from the practice squad. He looked like a servicable back up in preseason last year. Of course i dont know if van pelt is any good at all, we could be getting rid of porter.

van pelt knows the system kubiak runs thats probably why they resigned him

It's not uncommon to go into training camp with excess qb's on the team to throw to all the receivers-a player familiar with the system is a plus. Eventually, like every other position, excess players are weeded out.

He's a training camp arm. Someone to throw the ball to the receivers and give the other QB's a break. Plus he knows the system and might be able to help other guys with study. And if we get into a crunch with a bunch of injuries during the season, he'll be able to be brought in and won't be totally rusty and will have some sort of knowledge of the system.

Sage isn't going anywhere. Van Pelt is our 3rd string qb, nothing more.

I don't think we are until we see what Schaub or what someone else can do in a live game.

IMO....BVP is a camp arm and will probably not make the season, unless Porter stinks it up in NFLE, if that happens then he might be able to get the #3 spot.
