Here's my trade proposal to the Denver Broncos:
Denver gets: #10 overall Houston gets: #21 overall, #86, #148 It is my opinion that the #1 guy on Denver's radar is Adam Carriker, DE from Nebraska. It's unlikely Carriker slips past SF at #11 or St. Louis at #13. The hope is that if Rick Smith does a good enough job of selling this that we'll be able to make this deal happen. At #21, we can address our need for another playmaking wideout by selecting Robert Meachem, WR from Tennessee although it's possible he's off the board by now. If so, Reggie Nelson, S from Florida would be the next best thing. Nelson would be a welcome addidtion to a depleted, and somewhat lackluster DB corps. On the off chance that both are gone at #21 I would love to see Joe Staley, OT from Central Michigan be our choice. He's definitely a guy who can step in and make an impact at LT right away. At #86, assuming we get Meachem or Nelson at #21, I like Ryan Harris, the LT out of Notre Dame. He may not be as NFL-ready as Staley, but could pay dividends for our O-Line. If Staley is our guy at #21, I like Aaron Rouse, S from Virginia Tech at #86. He'd be the best safety available at this point in the draft and would provide instant depth at the S position, especially if we miss out on Nelson. Lastly, with pick #148 (5th round) I would take a hard look at David Ball, WR from New Hampshire. He's got all the skills to be a solid possession receiver in the league and could possibly develop into a nice #2 option at wideout. Thoughts?

i like the trade down but i dont like the players that seem to be targeted. i like nelson or meriweather at that pick, but i would possibly trade to take a smaller drop by that i mean droping to green bay or a few spost past them but not much; and still try and get leon hall and a second round pick back.

Don't like it. We don't get nearly enough in return value-wise.
I like Meachem, but not more than Reggie Nelson, Revis/Houston, and Kalil. Subtract the 5th round pick and get a 2nd rounder for '08 and I'd take it. |

We should trade down to the second round with the Bucs and pick up an extra third and Jake Plummer.

I like the trade. Not as much as I would like dealing down with Green Bayr (or even Buffalo). That is why I suggested it a couple of days ago
I even like it enough if we only get the 2nd rounder. I would hope that we could get their 4th also - or even swap our 4th for one of their 3rds. I would be happy if any of my top 18 slid: 1. Joe Thomas - he will be gone - simply because we need a stud OT 2. CJ - he will be gone - don't really need him but he and AJ would be scary 3. Peterson - he is probably gone - a better dickerson 4.& 5: Russell/Quinn likely gone 6. Gaines Adams- gone - a stud DE would hopefully round out our DL. 7. JAnderson - See Adams 8. Okoye - DT - would force us to make Weaver more DE than DT so I would rather have the DE - but our run D would be stout. 9. Branch - see Okoye 10. Chris Houston - CB - I think he could be the Dunta of this draft. 11/12 Nelson/Landry - whichever looks like a better fit 13. Levi Brown OT 14. Willis - A stud OLB would really help our DL. 15. Lynch - Not my favorite but would solidify RB for new qb. 16.& 17. Revis/Hall - just because we reallllly need another good cb. 18. Carriker - DE Otherwise: WR - Ginn, Bowe or Meachum DE - Charles Johnson OLB -Posluzny S - Griffin or Meriweather CB - Ross OT - Staley C - Kalil |

Perfect value would be if we could get a 4th this year instead of a 5th, but Denver doesn't have a 4th rounder this year. I put the 5th in this year instead of a 2 or 3 next season because I think David Ball will surprise a lot of people this season if given an opportunity to work himself into a lineup. This guy makes all the big catches, and he gives you a sure set of hands at the #3 WR spot. Kubiak is seriously considering giving Walter a chance to compete for the #2 spot in TC. He sees him as a shorter version of Ed McCaffrey. AJ, Walter, Ball, Mathis...sounds decent to me.
