Default AAA:Give Texans credit

I like Carr but I won't miss the headlines

Give Texans credit for picking new driver, cutting Carr

Congratulations, Houston Texans.

You finally get it. Too late, but better late than David Carr forever.

After making a serious blunder in passing on Vince Young in the draft, the Texans have finally sought a replacement for David Carr: Matt Schaub.

One year after passing on miracle man Vince Young the most stupid NFL draft decision since every team passed on Tom Brady for five rounds the Texans found themselves a legitimate quarterback.

Perhaps.

The NFL franchise that is Team Brainlock finally pulled a no-brainer when it swapped first-round picks and gave up a pair of second-round selections for the much sought-after Atlanta backup Matt Schaub.

The Texans made a huge upgrade.

"Excuse me?" you say.

A former third-round draft pick out of Virginia who has made two career NFL starts and lost them both is a big improvement over a five-year starter and the first pick of the 2002 draft?

Absolutely.

The bad news is Matt Schaub is no Vince Young. The good news is Matt Schaub is no David Carr.

I'll take Schaub's 0-2 career record over Carr's unremarkable 24-56 mark over five hideous seasons. Wouldn't you think there would be a few more glimpses of Carr's greatness, a couple of highlight games that made Texan fans think he has what it takes? No, he's no Peyton Manning, but he's not an Eli Manning either.

"Matt Schaub is no Vince Young"

Exactly right. He can actually pass the ball instead of just being a 3rd RB in the backfield.
