Don Banks has us taking the CB from Michigan at the 10 spot.

Not IMO. My feeling is that if the Texans want either Nelson or Hall they need to trade down and aquire more picks.

This team needs secondary help wherever it can find it in this draft.
I would rather have the #2 CB (behind Houston) than the #3 FS (behind Landry & Griffin). |

I don't think anyone believes Nelson to be rated lower than Griffin.

Except Griffin is a SS and Nelson is probably the purest FS in teh draft. Landry can play either, and play both S spots well. Griffin takes to many chances to be a good last line of defense type S; which is what we need.

I'm not sure where he's getting his info from, but Nelson is thought of as the number two safety, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if some teams had him rated as the number 1.

Griffin played SS (mostly) & FS (occasionaly) for UT. (There is virtually no difference between the two positions except that the SS lines up on the strong side therefore he must play better against the run). Griffin took a lot of chances because that was his job in the UT defense. Chizik's scheme called for Griffin to play the run 1st even tho he is a DB. Just because a guy is good against the run doesn't mean he cant play FS. Nelson seems weak against the run so FS would be his ideal position. |

Really the only similarity in the two is the word safety. Quote:

How about he is just strong against the pass ? Last edited by real; 03-23-2007 at 01:10 PM. |

i think griffin is better in coverage than most people give him credit for.
he's as good at stopping the run as nelson is in coverage. he's better in coverage than nelson is at stopping the run. anyone remember that interception in the rose bowl that saved a touchdown on the sideline? griffin. |

That's like saying Larry Johnson can run just as good as Andre Johnson can catch. But Andre can't run like him, but Larry Johnson can atleast catch a little bit so therefore he must be the better player. You can't compare two different positions like that. It's about finding a player who makes your team better. Last edited by real; 03-23-2007 at 01:30 PM. |

Well I actually played all 4 DB positions when I played football and I found very little difference between the way you play FS and the way you play SS besides the fact that my coach had the SS play run first. If you actually played football I'm assuming you played offense or you played in a different defensive schem than I did.
