A while ago I came up with an interesting, yet somewhat absurd, idea. What if, after the halfway point of the season, games between teams with large differences in their records counted for more? I.e. a playoff-bound team losing to a bad team (like the Colts against us) counts for two losses on their W-L record, while the bad team gets 2 wins on their record? This would encourage teams that have no shot at the playoffs to still play hard, teams that are currently in a playoff spot to not play half-heartedly against bad teams at the end of the year, and could end up pushing a team that starts off slowly into the playoffs (like how the Titans finished up this past season). Don't take this completely seriously, but share your thoughts on this.
