I think we set ourselves up potentially to be in place for NOT 1 but 2 second round picks.
Remember we still need to off load DC which I think we could get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him. (One can only hope right.) Also this let's me believe that moving back out of the 10 spot which I've said all along that picks 5-15 will be overpaid for the talent acquired at that position. Most of the players drafted in that range would have been middle to late first rounders any other year. The best value in this draft exist in the 2nd and 3rd rounds for me. I'd like to get out of the first round all together this year and I certainly think this trade opens the door for that.

I'd like to see us trade down too. I don't think we'll get a 2nd rounder for carr...he's most likely going to oakland. they have the 1st pick in each round.
we're in a postion to trade down for sure..imo.

I dont agree. Its dependent on who is available. If somehow in the world Landry or Peterson is available.. then we need to pick them up imo. Otherwise, trade down is doable but I wouldnt mind it and picking up Chris Houston.

i agree though it depends on who's available at 10 obviously...i'd love for either of those players. i see both of them being gone though. we can still get studs in picks 10-20 though. leon hall, darrelle revis, chris houston, reggie nelson, patrick willis, maybe amobi okoye, adam carriker, levi brown, marshawn lynch, robert meachem..etc

Trading partners:
Green Bay trades up to take Marshawn Lynch over Buffalo. St. Louis??? trades up to take Patrick Willis, Amobi Okoye, Adam Carriker over San Francisco??? Denver Broncos move up...don't they like Carriker a whole lot? Cincinnatti's 1st and 2nd rd picks = our 10th pick exactly...but who would they want??? What about pittsburgh steelers...who are they looking at? I don't know enough about the other teams to know who they would...might be willing to move up for....

I've been in the trade down camp even before the QB move. My theory is that if they really want defense they can still get a playmaker by moving down spots and getting picks. My theory was to grab Nelson. I still think Willis would be there and some others too.

if the Texans trade down from #10 (began @ #8) that would constitute a double trade down

I'm on board. Trade down to around 15th or so, recoup some of what was lost to get Schaub either a 2nd or 3rd, and draft the best DB on the board. Hall, Nelson, Revis, or Houston should still be available and could immediately start for us. Make it happen, Texans!

I was in the trade down camp before the Schuab trade but now I'm really, really in the trade down camp. I like the both Nelson and Landry, but this is a very deep class at S and we need picks bad.

Agreed. I think they'll have to take what's there now. No move up ammo. No one is going to postion themselves for a trade with this franchise. There is absolutly no upside trading with the bottom feeder we became yesterday. Deep draft, no reason to move up into the ten slot to over pay for something you can get simular value with in the second or third rounds.

I am hoping we pick up one of the good WRs. Maybe one will fall to us in the third, I know wishful thinking. Maybe we could trade back and pick one of them up there. We really need another WR IMO.
