ive seen lots of thoughts on whether we need a fs or corner and at first i thought both......but lets think like a gm and not as fans for a moment...
if you get a fs that knows what they are doing then our number 2 cb can be mediocre.....so if we get landry in the first then we wouldnt need a cb.....at least not this year...im sure the staff will wait and see if faggins can be better with a true fs........ second last year demeco ryans dropped and we got him....im sure noone had this on any boards.....i think that the same will happen this year.....if a wr lb and ryan kalil fall to the second who do you get??????say its meachem, kalil, timmons????or whoever u feel is a first rder but may fall.....what do we do as a gm??? i have to think we have to have in order kalil, lb, wr.....? |

Kalil first- the OL, especially Center, could really use more first-day upgrading.
WR second- I don't trust Mathis, Walter, or anyone else currently on the roster as a productive #2. LB- I'm not even sure we need to take one this draft, let alone 2nd round. MLB is set with DeMeco, WLB is good enough with Greenwood (he may be overpaid, but he isn't an embarassment), and someone (Orr, Clark, Barber) should fill in at SLB well enough. Course, I felt that we were good enough at LB before last year's draft, and DeMeco turned out pretty well, so what do I know... |

Take Landry in the first...hard hitting safety
Anthony Gonzales in second...wr Doug Datish...center...late 3 or early 4th Jared Zabransky...qb boise state...second day...late pick...too leery of pulling trigger on qb first day.. |

I was answering amazingadre's scenario of Kalil, a WR, and a LB like Timmons falling to our second round pick. I think that our guard situation is the least of our concerns on the line, although I would not be horrified if we drafted one. I agree that Ball is an interesting idea, as I think that he could be one of those WR's who doesn't wow you with his athletic ability but comes through with the big catch when you need him to. Satele I don't know much about, but I have heard that he is somewhat close to Kalil in terms of talent.

man great question and a pick i definitly wouldn't want to have to make!
Meachem is awesome and would look really good opposite Andre...I may regret passing him. But I really like Ryan Kalil. We really need a true C and Kalil could be the guy that holds that position down for us for the next decade...I hate C position more than any other on this team..QB,FS,CB...you name it...C is the worst imo. I take Kalil. dangit but Meachem would be good...i'm not going to be able to sleep now!
