I am against trading up in this draft. But if we had to move up who would have to be on the board to make you pull the trigger?
For me, it would have to be Joe Thomas. I dont think we should move up for any other player because the cost would be atleast another potential starter in draft picks. And we cant afford that for anyone but the franchise LT imo.

CJ WILL BE an immediate impact rookie at WR and also WILL BE the BEST Wide Receiver in the NFL in 5 years! He's the closest thing to a "can't miss" we've seen in a draft in a long time. 6'5" 235 45" vertical 4.35 40...bigger, stronger, faster than T.O...more physical than Randy Moss...bigger and stronger, more physical than the other CJ (Chad Johnson)...bigger and stronger, more physical than Steve Smith... 5 years from now, Marvin Harrison will be done...Torry Holt will be done... My money would be on CJ all the way! I know Kub and Smith have said they don't want to give up any draft picks, but in CJ we have a chance to get a guy that will immediately add much needed explosiveness to our offense, not to mention a guy that could single-handedly turn this franchise around (jury's still out on Mario). And, we're just giving up a 3rd in 2008, possibly a 4th as well. CJ will prove more valuable than any 3rd or 4th round pick...guaranteed. I know we need OL and DL help, but when a special player like this comes along you don't pass him up simply to address a need and you do what you can, within reason, to get him. Now for the hard part...Why would Oakland make this trade? I know that Oakland desperately needs a QB, and given JaMarcus Russell's exemplary Pro Day workout, why wouldn't they want to stay at #1 and take Russell? Good question, this is where the art of negotiation comes in handy. Al Davis and Lane Kiffin may be inclined to believe that a change of scenery and a fresh start will be just what David Carr needs to restart his career. With the allure of picking up the #8 this year PLUS a 3rd round pick in 2008 and possibly a 4th to go with it, added to the Raiders' need for help at just about every offensive position, this offer could be something that Al Davis will take a long hard look at. I would also list DET as a possible trade partner at the #2 spot, but I think it would be too risky to ASSUME that Oakland would take Russell. They could very well draft CJ and leave us without our guy.

We don't have to move up. In fact, it might be favorable for us to move down.

My vote move down, there is not One player in the draft that I would give up a second rounder for. We have to face the facts that the FO in our first four years did not do a very good job thay made some bad moves, now thats water under the bridge and we have to move on. To move up your going to have to give up a 2nd pick and on our team that is a starter period, there is not a player in the draft that is worth TWO starters.

Hell, I'd give Cleveland Carr, Babin, Travis Johnson and our #8 for one of the top three Thomas, Peterson or CJ... salary cap be damned...
That's four (ehem...)first rounders, Cleveland... are you listening??? errrr, nope, I guess they aren't. funny, I was just thinking about how the Browns run a 3-4, and could try to stand Babin up again... ...I almost choked on my coffee laughing when it occurred to me they could attempt to stand Carr up again too..! .

If our team was a playoff team now, I'd move up for CJ. He's the only one worthy of extra picks. Can you even begin to imagine a WR tandem of AJ & CJ? The enemy's secondary would look like this
Hmmmm........, I wonder if we could get an endorsement deal for AJ & CJ from Johnson & Johnson?

At the top of my draft board is Joe thomas, Calvin johnson, and adrian peterson. all offensive guys.
I'm totally against trading up though. Joe Thomas-stud LT that would help oh so much. I would rather have Levi Brown and whatever draft picks we'd have to give up. they would be 1st day picks and instant starters. I'd rather 3 good starters than thomas. Calvin Johnson-probably the only one i would move up for. Best guy in the draft and will be one of the top receivers by the '08 season. With moulds departure, calvin would be good..but our qb needs time to throw which hopefully is improving. adrian peterson- my favorite running back for the last few years. i'd consider moving up for him but there is still an outside chance he could fall to us. some team may trade in front of us..but so be it. his injuries concern me...let's not get in a debate..i know they aren't career threatening or reocurruing injury but if he misses games he misses games however freak they are. i love AP..AD though..but doubt id trade up for him he'd be my 2nd choice though Calvin and calvin only...but let's not.

I'd move up for Vince Young....ooops that was last year, & we did'nt even have to move up :brickwall
Alright I'll try to be sweet, not promising to be nice while its not what I would do (stay put) I have a feeling that Kubiak has his "man-crush" on another QB named Brady Quinn & would at least attempt to offer a package to move up for him (hopefully includes Carr)

Agreed. The only two worth it. My preference would be CJ.

I don't want Adrian Peterson. None of you seem to understand that taking an OL in the 1st round is pointless. When you're struggling like we are, you don't draft for need in the first round...you draft for the best player available. And Joe Thomas wouldn't be the BPA over Calvin Johnson.
