Here is a link with all the results. My roommate was there filming and said JaMarcus was a little late on some of his throws and some were behind the receivers but all and all he threw well and the scouts were really impressed with his arm. He also said Dwayne Bowe had some problems holding on to the ball.

Path to the Draft said he had lost a little weight since the combine in an effort to show he has a good work ethic. They also said he had eaten dinner with the Raider staff one night in a get acquainted thing.

Not saying it won't happen, but I just find it hard to believe that Oakland will take him over Calvin Johnson. Yes, I know that Oakland needs a QB in the worst way, but I just don't think JR is Raider material... Just MHO...

I more or less see them taking CJ with the 1st pick and then grabbing Mr Heisman, Smith in the 2md. But that is just me....

Think they would let go of their 2nd for Mr.Carr?

If they were smart...they'd draft CJ and get a veteran QB to take over for 1-2 years while they rebuild their o-line..then have a younger QB come in and take over (i think that's what we need to do too)

I think cleveland could take Joe Thomas if available and get a guy like Michael Bush in the 2nd...but AP is simply amazing and understand if they've fallin in love..i have..lol

I watch a TON of SEC football and this doesn't shock me a bit. What shocks me is when people pick the guy apart and discredit him based on second hand observations...but I won't name names.

And the thing about Russel, until he rounds into the QB you expected he can
play TE or SAM for you. Guys a real horse.

i mainly pick him apart based on what i've seen on the field. it's pretty easy. the stuff about him being aloof and astray doesn't help.

probably the strongest arm ever, but little else.

They had some of his workout on path to the draft on nfl network last night. I tivo'd it but fell asleep before he came on. I will watch it tonight.

In any case, if this rumored deal comes down with Moss for Aaron Rogers, there may be a slight crack open for him to drop, although I doubt it. Even if he makes it past two which is doubtful, TB might gobble him up, or some team like the Fins might trade up. But, you never know....

I think that he fits the Raider mystique.

i think even if russell is sitting there at #9, the fins don't touch him.

everything miami has done this offseason though points to drafting SOME quarterback. i'm expecting an attempt to move up and grab quinn. if not there, perhaps stanton in the 2nd round. the position will be addressed in the first two rounds.

Default Re: Jamarcus Russell Pro Day

btw, a member of the dolphins board attended the pro-day. here's his report:
Quote:
The absolute nano-second JaMarcus Russell is drafted he will automatically have the strongest arm in the NFL. Bar none.
But, when he was throwing the route tree to Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis, he had some accuracy issues. I'm almost 100% positive it was a machanics issue. On the throws where he delivered the ball overhead, the passes were dead on and a thing of beauty.
But during some throws, he tried to show off his arm strength and began to "sling" it. That caused some passes to go a little high or behind the receiver. But overall, watching him throw a football is a thing to behold. I have never seen a ball just absolutely jump out of someone's hands like a rocket. BTW, he lost about 10 pounds since the combine at Indy.

Dwayne Bowe has the body of an absolute addonis. He is a 6'4" receiver, but not frail at all. He will have no problem whatsoever going over the middle and catching balls. He did that great at LSU anyway.
However, on some of the throws that JaMarcus sailed or put behind him, he did not catch them. He even dropped a 9 route (bomb) down the sideline. Aside from a few drops though, Bowe looked extremely fluid and fast.

LaRon Landry is an absolute animal. He is probably one of the top 10 athletes in LSU history.
CK, if you think this guy would not be a good pick at 9, I think you are mistaken.
His cone drills were excellent. (didn't get the official times though.) He did great on the read and react drill that tests instincts. And, of course, he is very fast. Landry could elevate the Dolphins defense even more so by bringing an absolute force in the middle of the secondary.

Craig "Buster" Davis looked very fast today. He is not a small receiver himself, (he's 6'2") but Dwayne Bowe still looked much, much bigger. But Davis really helped himself by the 40 he ran, and I can really see him getting picked at the top of the second round. If we go another direction at pick 9, we would be blessed to have Davis available at pick 40. He would address the speed need at WR.

I didn't get to look at the official 40 times (Boomer posted them in another thread) but I did get a few sample ones from people timing around me.

Dwayne Bowe's 1st 40: 4.47
Dwayne Bowe's 2nd 40: 4.44

Buster Davis' 1st 40: 4.44
Buster Davis' 2nd 40: 4.40 (Now, Buster himself said he saw one clock that had him at 4.34 after his second run. I don't know how accurate that is, but he looked blazing fast regardless of what the time was.)

JaMarcus Russell's only 40: 4.7

You may already have seen this....

Quote:
Dolphins | Quinn could visit team
Wed, 14 Mar 2007 21:20:59 -0700

Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins are interested in speaking with Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn, and could bring him to visit as part of their annual visits of college players. They could be considering a scenario where they trade up to the No. 2 overall pick, where the Detroit Lions are listening to offers. The Dolphins currently have the No. 9 pick in the draft, and also have two second-round picks.
Then a little further down, pretty much says the same thing - but for Russell.

typical pre-draft stuff from the miami papers. "could be interested" means "hey uh maybe i dunno, they might be thinking about moving up? who knows...maybe. right? makes sense. i dunno."
