opens up some options in the draft now that we dont need to focus on getting an OL early. can now grab one late to add some depth. cross OL and RB off the day 1 draft needs. still need DL, WR, and DB's. i still like my latest mock of:
1-landry FS 2-abiamiri DE 3-irons/wilson CB 4-walker WR 5-henderson/hall/barbre/frye OT 6-ryan DT |

Yep this is a phenomenal signing just off depth alone, aside from the fact that he can start. This truly helps us be able to draft for best player available, meaning if Peterson is available, we can still take him. If Landry is available we can take him. I mean the choices we can make are seemingly endless and we aren't stuck having to draft certain positions just to have a decent filled out roster. As long as we can bring back Leach, we will be fine. Now we can still pick up a safety, a cornerback, a quarterback, maybe a running back, and an offensive lineman in the draft, but they can now be developmental talent. In the words of Quagmire, "AAAAALLLRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!! Giggity giggity!!"

i think it gives the texans options now when it comes time for them to pick, i always though levi brown was a stretch at number 8 and with the recent black signing tackle is not as much of a need anymore, peterson is a no brainer if he slides to the texans, what i would like to see is maybe laundry to help the secondary or okoye to pull double teams off of mario, i think the front office is doing a great job and look forward to what they have in store for the draft

Why draft a tackle? We have 4 tackles that can start. Draft a guard, we only have two capable starters at guard, or maybe draft a center. I would like to only see one o linemen drafted, and make it no earlier than a 5th round pick, I think we are set on starters. Black being and insurance for spencer, and if not insurance, than an extra bonus.

I would still go after Joe Thomas or CJ.

Sure they can start but they aren't starter quality on most other teams.

while the signing of black makes OT less of a need i still see a reason to draft a guy for that position...i just wouldn't draft one on the first day now...which is good because it allows us to follow up on bigger needs now
1st. landry (impact starter which helps out faggins and d-rob) 2nd. ross (after losing sanders we need a nickelback) 3rd. kolb (qb of the future) 4th. woodley (kid's stock is dropping but production is not) 5th. filani (i know this cat...he will be a great pro mark my words...yes i know i'm bias) 6th. daniels (solid guard for colorado...can work well with the zone blocking scheme) 7th. warren (depth at linebacker still needs to be addressed IMO)

I think the org is gearing up like AP is going to be gone by #8. They filled the Tackle need, and running back, so that leaves our secondary, a starting WR (which I think they sign a FA) and some D-line help.
Round 1 we have to take either LaRon Landry, or Alan Branch. If we take LaRon we can take BPA in round 2, but if we take Alan, we HAVE to go safety or Cornerback period. With Clark signing we could hold off on a 2nd round outside linebacker, and maybe grab one with a 3rd or 4th.

I do not see that at all. I see a former fifth rounder who held down the fort because there were no better options at OT for them because of injury. Just like with Salaam for us last year. Might wanna shake the tea leaves again. For all we know, this is just Kubes and Smith putting some "tallent" on the team. Nothing more. If anything...it keeps everything in play. Move up, move down, take BPA. And...they may determine that BPA on thier board for this team under these circumstances...is Joe Thomas. The may have to move up with Detroit to get him...but it's possible.
