to move up in the 2nd rd. target Ryan Kalil
based on Raiders trading Randy Moss in the process they pick up extra pick(s). the Raiders use the 1st pick to select his replacement top NFL prospect & bpa WR Calvin Johnson. with a tight fa market for QB's and not wanting to spend their #1 pick on one make a trade with Houston for David Carr, swapping 2nd rd. picks. the Raiders get a former #1 overall pick in QB David Carr plus the Texans 2nd rd. pick (39) in exchange the Texans get the Raiders 2nd rd. pick (33)

Actually I wouldn't mind that if there was a good enough player still available. We might not be able to get a pick out of Carr but we might be able to secure a prospect.

easier said than done. raiders might covet a player that they dont think will get past AZ or detroit. its probably an OL. unless they're looking for a WR in round 2.

I believed Oakland signed a C in FA so at least we know they won't take Kalil. beerlover, thank you ...this is somthing i really want done...at least something similar. If we just simply switch 2nd round picks and give them carr...it's basically saying carr is worth the 16th pick in the 4th round.
The only problem is they will want this done before they draft CJ most likely. Because If Ryan Kalil is picked in the late first...then it should void the trade. Then they would have picked CJ and still not have a Quarterback. I see this hard to accomplish....i doubt Smith would do this too..unless he was 100% that Kalil was hands down the bpa. I would like this to happen though. i like it beerlover...kalil would be a huge step in the right direction.

Wouldn't it be kinda ironic that we passed on Vince Young because 'we thought David could get us to the Superbowl'...and then less than a year later we trade him to move up 6 spots in the 2nd round?
I find that very funny.

I should have included that this is the type of deal done draft day. could be someone else who the Texans covet who slides to the 2nd rd. (like DeMeco last year) you name at least a half dozen all of which would be gone by the time the Texans can make their selection & thats the point.
also going back to California just might be the ticket to returning to form, so to speak. I wish nothing but the best for David, but its time to move along & this represents outstanding value for Al Davis, a young still promising QB with all the measureables & five years of experience anxious to prove everyone wrong

maybe if any of these 1st rounders slip....and depending what we draft 1st rd.
-leon hall -darrelle revis -chris houston -reggie nelson -paul posluzny -dwayne jarrett -ted ginn jr -robert meachem -adam carriker -RYAN KALIL there are ten guys that will all probably go after pick #10. so thats 22 spots..i bet one of these guys falls to the 2nd. maybe not but i could see us going after any of these people.

just for fun maybe a couple guys are there @ #39 but the majority are gone by the time the Texans pick. the players in bold are most likely gone but could still drop to the 2nd rd. would you trade Carr for the chance to get one of them?
Posluszny, Paul (OLB), Penn State Ross, Aaron (CB), Texas Houston, Chris (CB), Arkansas Timmons, Lawrence (OLB), Florida State Grubbs, Ben (OG), Auburn Nelson, *Reggie (FS), Florida Kalil, Ryan (C), Southern Cal Meriweather, Brandon (FS) Griffin, Michael (SS), Texas Bush, *Michael (RB), Louisville

If we knew we were going to get them...in this order of preference.
1.Ryan Kalil 2.Chris Houston 3.Lawrence Timmons 4.Reggie Nelson 5.Paul Posluzny I wouldn't trade Carr to get a chance at them..but I would if it were the 33rd pick in the draft and one of these were there. The others I feel have a better chance of falling to us at our pick.

Why is Reggie Nelson being talked about as a 2nd round prospect when previuosly he was talked about as best FS available and a possible top 10 pick.

Oh and I think trading Carr to move up in the 2nd is crazy unless of course we took Quinn at #8, then I would talk to them about it.

the question to you would be on draft day if Reggie Nelson is there @ #33 the trade is sitting on the table would you do it? would it make it any easier if the Texans had already selected Brady Quinn with the 8th pick?

Most people don't have Nelson slipping past the Jags and I don't either, not in this divison. Their safeties are getting old and often injured.

If Reggie Nelson is there I do it in a heart beat, although I feel we are getting robbed a little because I am still a Carr fan, maybe they could kick us back a 6th or 7th as well.
I think FS is our biggest hole so to get Nelson in the 2nd would be a dream come true.

What about the Falcons, I seem to be thinking the Falcons and another team around that point have some serious needs at Safety?

For good reason the guy seems like the total package. He very well may be BPA at 8.
If he is and we take him I'm not moving and hoping against all common sense that Ross or Houston falls to 39.
