Default I don't get it

Why are we constantly giving guys up rather than looking for any kind of trade offers? We get dead money and no compensation out of it. It just doesn't make sense. Can anyone explain this????

I am trying to figure out who we have not traded who had value. Surely not the 34 year old slow Wr and two linemen who can't stay healthly.
