I'm listing a few options in each round. Who would y'all like more than others? To limit some of the options I'm going to go ahead and say we take Landry in the 1st...with explanation...I see us being able to OL/DL in the 2nd or 3rd rd...and I see DT as a pretty big need now. WR too
much of my information on individual players came from nfldraftcountdown.com Please read bios for more info and add more info from other sites y'all know so we...and I can get a better insight into these players. I'm not going to list very much info if any because that would take forever and make the post longer than it already is...thanks...please leave comments on individual players in each round 1) Laron Landry FS LSU -After the combine, Landry has safely found his name at the top of the list for all Safeties...maybe even secondary...maybe even defense as a whole. -I really like Landry all year long. He has ball-hawking skills which we desperately need, he is very good in run support as well. I like how he tackles-wraps them up. you don't see a lot of tackles by him when he just uses is shoulders. He's awesome at blitzing and playing along the line. I flirted with the idea of him at 8 but thought it'd be a reach. I always thought he looked fast in pads (which is what counts) but thought he was around 4.45 ish. His 40time at the combine of 4.35 amazed me and propelled him top ten for me. -Also, I love Okoye a lot but I think we can find some good/decent DLINE help in the 2nd or 3rd. thats why i went with landry as our first...also we've spent the last 3/4 years 1sts on dline. 2) Paul Posluzny OLB Penn St.- I think there may be a chance he slips to the second rd due to his knee and slow 40 time at the combine....demeco fell last year. outside shot at him -Ryan Kalil C USC (doubt he's here ) -Victor Abiamiri DE ND -Charles Johnson DE Georgia -Quentin Moses DE Georgia -Anthony Spencer DE Purdue -Quinn Pitcock DT Ohio St. -DeMarcus Tyler DT NC St. -Michael Bush RB Louisville 3) Ryan Harris OT ND- Supposedly Kubiak liked him a lot at the combine will he be here and is he a 3rd rder or higher? -Kareem Brown DT Miami -Quinn Pitcock (could go 3rdrd) -Tony Ugoh OT Ark -Stewart Bradley OLB Nebraska -Samson Satele OL Hawaii -Kevin Kolb QB Houston -Drew Stanton QB Mich St. -Antonio Pittman RB Ohio St. -Anthony Gonzales WR Ohio St.? 4) Paul Williams WR Fresno St. -Jacoby Jones WR Lane (too high?) -Darius Walker RB ND -Steve Smith WR USC -Desmond Bishop LB Cal (too low?) 5-7) BPA -Two guys I would like to see. Both OL guys may end up getting cut but we need help and they may be worth the risk - Ed McCarthy OL Yale -This guy played all along the line at yale at each position. Is a very smart player. received AP first team all american and Walter Camp 1st team all american awards. -Mario Henderson OT Florida St. - Only found out about him about 1 hour ago. don't know much about him at all but all the ol depth we can get the better. he's 6'7. could be a guy to take a gamble on in the 2nd day...why not? So after it all my ideal would look something like this: 1)Laron Landry FS LSU 2)Paul Posluzny OLB Penn St. (2ndchoice Demarcus Tyler DT NC St.) 3)Ryan Harris OT Notre Dame (2nd choice Kareem Brown DT Miami) 4)Paul Williams WR Fresno St. 5)Chris Henry RB Arizona (or another RB?) 6)Ed McCarthy OL Yale 7)Daniel Sepulveda P Baylor How's this? I think OL and DL are big needs. wouldnt mind seeing a WR or RB...even a LB too.

i also like ur choices of kalil and bush and i wouldnt be apposed to Houston this early to really make that secondary amazing... DRob and Houston at the CBs and Landry and Michael Lewis at the safeties. How good would that be?

that'd be a stellar secondary, i really see houston going in the 1st round. him, hall, and revis are prob the top 3 cb's imo..and should all be 1st rders....I love kalil but think he'll be late first or top 5 in the 2nd...he shouldn't make it past Cleveland or Arizona in the 2nd.

yea i dont see kalil falling either and Houston may just be wishful thinking with that 4.32 40 time or whatever is was... but with so many top secondary (landry, nelson, merriweather, griffen, revis, hall, and houston) i think there is a decent chance he may fall to us... but it may just be me wishing

we also need to address the CB position somewhere if the Texans go DT (Branch/Okoye) or OT (Levi Brown) with the 8th. best bet would be take a cb in 2nd instead of Landry in 1st. a guy who impressed me @ the combine was Eric Wright, UNLV (transfer from USC) has excellent size 5' 11" 192 very fluid in his turns & hips, great reaction & body control, ran something like a 4.36 also showed good hands catching ball at high point with control looking fluid all the way. he is a solid 2nd rd. pick and maybe one of those players who runs up the draft board in the last couple weeks leading up to the draft once his character issues are answear'ed
![]() the first day picks should include two lineman (OL/DL) & one secondary. by taking LaRon first then we would have to go with the best OT available probably Joe Staley in the 2nd (position this year is thin) 3rd. rd. best DT available, then maybe a speed rusher DE in 4th like one of those Texas Longhorns Tim Crowder or Brian Robison. so the scenero would look like- ole miss texan- 1. LaRon Landry 2. Paul Posluzny 3. Ryan Harris 4. Paul Williams beerlover- 1. Levi Brown, OT 2. Eric Wright, CB 3. Brandon Mebane, DT 4. Tim Crowder, DE

crowder will go 1st day. mebane is a bit overrated IMO. his upside is limited due to his size and he played in the pac 10. i would rather have kareem brown. eric wright is good, but he's more of a mid-late 2nd rounder. a bit raw, youd have to draft a safety to make up for his mistakes that he WILL make.
1- Levi Brown OT Penn St 2- Eric Wright CB UNLV 3- Kareem Brown DT Miami 4- Michael Johnson FS Arizona 5- Mike Walker WR Central Florida 6- Danny Ware RB Georgia 1- Laron Landry FS LSU 2- Jason Hill WR Washington St OR Paul Poszlusney LB Penn St 3- Kareem Brown DT Miami 4- Brandon Jackson RB Nebraska 5- Corey Graham CB New Hampshire 6- Mario Henderson OT Fl St. 1- Laron Landry FS LSU 2- Eric Wright CB UNLV 3- Antonio Pittman RB Ohio St 4- Mike Walker WR Central Florida 5- Mario Henderson OT Fl St 6- Clifton Ryan DT Mich St Last edited by htownfoozball; 03-01-2007 at 11:52 PM. |

Good points. I think our secondary would be vastly improved if we add Landry. I think we should get another cb instead of faggins there but Landry would help so much.
1-Laron Landry 2-Joe Staley 3-Kareem Brown Helps out both lines and Landry shadows faggins side. Solves the weakest 3 spots on our team, imo. solves is a bad word...addresses the 3 weakest spots.

1- Laron Landry FS LSU
2- Joe Staley OT Central Michigan 3- Kareem Brown DT Miami 4- Mike Walker WR Central Florida 5- Corey Graham CB New Hampshire 6- Danny Ware RB Georgia not sure if staley will be there though. he will probably fall to the 2nd, but he'd have to get past 6 other teams, and pretty much all of them need OL help. |

Nice mocks guys. I'm reaching with Jacob Ford with a day two pick. He grows ten pounds, he would put Peek or Babins out the door this summer. Get a gains Adams type athlete on the cheap. Just saying there. All of you have great thoughts.

he's like a poor man's jarvis moss. 6'4 250lbs or so and runs in the 4.65 area. comes from a smaller school (central arkansas) and put up some decent numbers. needs to pack on another 25lbs of muscle before he can play end in the NFL. more of a 6th round project at this point.

I really want O-line help, but I am admently against Ryan Harris and Joe Staley. I want line help yes, but I would also like someone who can beat our Saalam or force Winston to OG or just be better than the crap we have now. Neither of those two guys are any better than what we have and would be a wasted draft pick that early IMO.

What I like about Ryan Harris in Round 3 is that 2 of the teams ahead of us in the draft order would have drafted OT in Rounds 1 and 2 (Thomas, Staley), which increases the likelihood of Harris making it past the hungry wolves in Round 3 to us. I sure would like to see the Texans shore up one of these needs in FA. One move would completely alter the profile of our draft. |

there is no way the Texans can afford to address the LT position via FA. maybe they believe they're already set with Spencer/Winston? therefore draft in another direction, but if they don't take Levi Brown in the 1st look at what options are going to be available, doom & gloom brother, doom & gloom

posluszny had a great combine, i'm not sure why people think otherwise. scouts were very impressed with him, and his 40 time may have even been better than what people expected.
