With all of our needs, why are we not on more of these Free Agents? Should we expect more action on FA's with the cap space we just freed up??

It's not going to happen, but just think if we could get Hamlin, Nate Clements, and then draft Laron Landry. Whew. |

For some reason the Texans never go after high profiled guys in free agency or in that matter the draft. They will get a lot of decent players I suspect, but nobody who really sticks out as a great free agent signing. That's probably why we are only on there for one player.

It'd be kind of a waste though if we cant get any pressure on the qb.

The lack of free agent activity from the Texans is concerning. The one thing I am looking forward to is Smith's and Kubiak's draft this year. With the exception of the huge brainfart with the #1 pick last year, they had a killer draft. I hope they get #8 right this year and have the same results as last year with 2-7... |

We don't have the cap space some team have and we aren't as competitve as others.
All in all not the most attractive place for a FA to come to.

I don't care about whether the guys he brings in are high or low profile as long as they actually play and contribute to the team. Unlike he-who-must-not-be-named. I'm easy like that. |

You can tell that they want to go after the big names but when you only have money to buy a KIA you can forget about trying to get a Bentley.

We never go after anybody of significance.
Which is why we are INSIGNIFICANT on the field. Funny how that works, isn't it? And we always scratch our heads as to why the preseason projections have us ranked 29th or lower in the league, and LAST in the AFC South. Best be looking forward to the draft, because this team has never acquired anyone of true significance in the free agency pools. Be sure and turn off the lights (whoever is the last to leave the "Who have we signed?" threads). Different year, same outcome.

Its not like we haven't went after FAs before. I don't pay any attention to these "top free agent" lists anymore, because the year we signed R. Smith and T. Wade (I see Smith has made his way back on the list, that guy is so overrated)........both those players were in the "top ten" list of FAs, how did that work out.
I have no problem with the Texans sitting out the first round and actually make "smart" signings later on in FA, that fill holes with avg. players who are cheap. You get your superstars in the draft, not overpay for them in FA, that has gotten us nowhere in the last 5 years. Plus since the Texans suck right now, they are always over spending in FA, for mediocre talent, I don't want to do that this year. |
