We trade our 1st round pick and David Carr to Cleveland for their #3 and drafted Adrian Peterson.
That leaves us with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th We trade our 3rd and 4th round picks to the Vikings for their 2nd round pick Now, we've got Adrian Peterson, 2nd (39), 2nd (40), 5th (?), 6th (?), 7th (?) Here's what we end up with: 3) Adrian Peterson 39) Justin Blalock 40) Kevin Kolb 5th) David Ball 6th) Dustin Fry 7th) Ramonce Taylor Pretty good if you ask me. I know it's ALL offense, but I believe that if we beef up our offense with these playmakers it would take a LOT of pressure off our defense. With the way the D was improving toward the end of last season, I don't think it's too much of a reach to go offense with all of our draft picks. In FA, we sign Ken Hamlin and Nick Harper to bolster the secondary. And you all know, our secondary needs some major attention.

We will definitely be picking up DL help in the draft, we only have one true starter. We also will be picking up a WR, you don't cut your # 2 without a plan to replace him.

I'd take Calvin Johnson over Adrian Peterson if we trade up...and if CJ is there. CJ is the most sure thing in this entire draft, followed behind laron landry. I think those are the two players that have 0 potential for bust.
Peterson is going to be great but will probably get injured easier than CJ. I'd rather not trade up though.

I didn't mention it, but if Indy cuts Stokley, I'd like to pick him up in FA as well.

A trading David Carr and the # 8 for the # 3 of the Browns equals a difference of about 800 pts. That is equal in value to the 21st pick of the 1st round. I don't see any teams giving Carr 1st round trade value. Then the Texans 3rd(#73) and 4th(#103) round picks are worth 225 and 88 points each (total 313). The Vikings 2nd rounder (#41) is worth 490 points. Again not a deal the Vikings would do. |

I doubt Ramonce lasts to the 7th. Someone will take a chance. There will probably be a better WR in the 5th than Ball. |

me too. Just have Carr in shotgun....they will work on the shotgun formation all offseason. Then just let him snap the ball and immediately toss it up to either johnson. The other teams could have both safeties and a corner covering Calvin and he'd still come down with it.

If we stay at 8 i'm really hoping for a first day like this...
1-Laron Landry FS LSU 2-Michael Bush RB Lou 3-Ryan Harris OT ND I'd see us having to give up Carr, and our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd picks or Carr and our 1st and 2nd this year and our 2nd next year. Either way I'd rather have the players above than just peterson. I hope we resign Ron Dayne. Him and Bush would pound the other Defense and then throw in lundy, taylor, and/or gado....we'll see what happens with domanick too. too much to trade up for a RB even though we need help.

1 laron landry
2 paul poszlusney 3 kareem brown 4 brandon jackson 5 corey graham 6 mario henderson need to upgrade secondary. everyone is sure landry is the pick. stick poz next to demeco. he's probably the BPA in round 2 with payne gone, need to add to the DLine. Brown is big and can rush the passer. jackson should do well in a ZBS. he has good vision, great hands, and he hits the hole hard. corey graham is my sleeper CB. he helps against the run and he has good ball skills. the level of competition wasnt great (new hampshire), so there may be questions about him, but we get an elite FS to make up for his mistakes mario henderson is a big OT at 6'7, but needs to bulk up (302lbs). lots of physical tools, just needs experience. might be gone in the 5th due to the lack of OT's in the draft. |

Another guy i'm kinda looking at is Ed McCArthy OL from Yale. He's 6'5 302 lbs. was AP first team all american and Walter Camp first team all american in 2006. He also played every position along the line. I could go Landry in the 1st. Posluzny in the 2nd if he's there. DE,DT like Kareem brown in the 3rd. Take both mario henderson and ed mccarthy in the 5 and 6th maybe. Then take a RB or WR in the 4. someone like you have or Paul Wiliiams..Jacoby Jones?

i forgot that we need a WR. if we dont fill that position in free agency, i would think we go WR round 2. jason hill might be there but chances are the raiders will take him unless they go with an OT.

on 2nd thought, WR is undoubtedly the deepest position in this class. i say go with poz and take a WR later.

Ramonce Taylor? Why would we look at Taylor. With your scenario, we'd have Adrian Peterson on board. Why would we want a second rate lockeroom cancer in the 7th?
