Ok.. you are the GM of the Texans.
1. What would you do in the Free Agency. 2. who would you trade/drop and expected comp 3. Resign your players 4. your first through third picks My plan would be: 1. Make a run for Patrick Kerney. With Mario, moving Weaver inside, Kerney would add experience and be able to school Mario on being a good DE. Plus, the Falcons are not going to be able to match it being short on cap space. 2. Trades would be the following: - Carr for the Third Round pick. - Try trading Our 8th pick for New Englands 24th and 28th pick. With almost 27 million in cap space, they could sign a 8th pick with no problem and address other needs. Tom Brady would LOVE a Ginn here, and there would even be a chance they could get a decent pick since Dillion wants out of there. That would give them a small shot at Peterson, and a huge shot at Lynch/others who would only help Brady out of the backfield and suppliment Maroney. 3. Peek would be resigned for depth. 4. I would have the following picks if the top was successful: #24, #28, #39, #73, and a undecided between 65-95. My picks other then MerryWeather (how ever you spell his last name) would be BPA with emphaisis on OL, WR, S, CB. LB, DT, and DE would be nice, but the first four are more of a priority. IF a BPA is much higher then the others, then they would be taken. MerryWeather fro me would be picked at 28th spot.

If I was the GM of the Texans with the owners permission I'd ask the league if we could move the team to San Antonio.

I would keep Carr.
I would sign Ken Hamlin. I would pick up Jake Plummer. Only in FA, I would NOT give away a draft pick for him. I would not sign Nate Clements. We don't need to spend the money for 1 guy. he would help a lot but he's not the 1 guy we're missing to win the division imo. we need like 6 guys. I would not move Anthony Weaver to DT. He wouldn't last the season there. Trade down looks very bleak to me at this point...but would love to. New England won't trade up with us. I am coming to the realization we're not going to find a good trading partner and we WILL stay at #8. 1st rd- Levi Brown 2nd rd-Best available CB ala Chris Houston, Aaron Ross, Daymien Hughes I want us to get Ryan Kalil but he is just about guaranteed a late 1st rd or a top 5 pick in the 2nd rd. I would consider trading up a few spots to take him. Great ZBS Center + adding Levi Brown would help our OLINE!! throw in Winston and Spencer when he's healed. Add to that Chester Pitts and Fred Weary. maybe a little McKinney. We would have a legit young offensive line with quality depth for the 1st time in franchise history.

First.....
Trade Carr for a third round pick and a handle of Crown for celebrating purposes. Continue to demand a restructered contract of DD, Moulds and Wong. Cut those who don't and Seth Payne. FA's Sign SS Michael Lewis from Philly and OLB Cato June from Indy. If June is out of our price range, Kawika Mitchell from KC is a good alternative. Draft Wait until draft day before making any moves. I want to see 1. Adrian Peterson or 2. Jamaal Anderson fall to us. Otherwise, convince NE to trade us picks 24 and 28 for our 8th. If they don't trade and I had to make a choice at this point, it would be Alan Branch. I don't care if he is really big and better suited for a 3-4 scheme, Branch demands a lot of space and double teams. Otherwise, here's my picks for the draft.... Picks Rd 1 24 Aaron Ross CB Texas 28 Robert Meachem WR Tennessee Rd 2 38 Joe Staley OT Central Michigan Rd 3 73 Kevin Kolb QB Houston Xtra pick from Carr trade.......Selvin Young RB Texas or Tony Hunt RB Penn St. (I doubt he'll be available) Rd 4-7 The rest are BPA Drafting Ross will help solidify our pourous secondary. Meachem along with Johnson will spread the field and stop defenses from stacking players in the box. Moulds will serve as a great mentor to Meachem. Last edited by BSofA04; 02-26-2007 at 12:11 AM. |

^^Not if we signed Michael Lewis. Move Glenn Earl to FS. CC used as a nickle and dime back ONLY. There are so many different scenerios that come into play, and I had to go with my best case.

SS and FS are two TOTALLY different positions. And, If we played Glenn Earl at FS, that wouldn't much of an upgrade from C.C. Those two guys have no speed and they miss keys too often. No thanks. Demote them both.

Yes I realize that, I played college football. It's not out of the question to change positions, it's done often enough. With a Pro-Bowl SS, 1 great corner and 1 young Thorpe Award winner, your secondary is already better than the previous year. We arn't going to be solid at every position but it's a definate upgrade. Matter of fact, that defense would be pretty good.

Honestly, I'd kinda like to see Jon Hoke lose his job. I have my reasons for that.

Free Agency:
1. use most of the cap to go after Steinbech. Young olineman that'll be there to build a line around. 2. sign Michael Lewis. pro-bowler or cc...yeah, i'm going lewis. 3. pick up Plummer. no giving up picks. they need to dump some dead weight. Resign: 1. dayne. earned his place by beating the colts. 2. peek. even though him and babin are the same player. i just like him. 3. sallaam. need some oline depth. hopefully wont have to start A game. Draft: 1st RD (in order of importance) - AP, Levi, LaRon. 2nd RD - Chris Houston, Kalil, or Merriweather (depending on 1st Rd pick.) then, sit back and watch the texans not have a losing season! 8-8. |

2. Trades - None. 3. Resignings I'd let go of: Peek Weigert DW These players are, I believe, not contributing to the team what is needed to break .500. To me, dead weight and no real loss. 4. Draft Picks 1st - Adrian Peterson 2nd - Datish 3rd - Best OT available (Staley/Sears/Ugoh) If Peterson is not there: 1st - Levi Brown 3rd - Antonio Pittman Either way, I'm fixing the offense this year. These three players - (tackle, center, running back) give the Texans protection and a guy with legs under him. I believe in building the line through the draft, so this gives me the players needed for a line that will last a long time. Summary: Offseason emphasis on giving Carr weapons he needs (a running game) and somebody who can block. Now I can safely say that in Carr's second year, he has all the personnel in place to be a winning quarterback. In fact, the Texans have added a veteran quarterback of the Denver system to compete with him/kick him in the butt/mentor him. I did little to help the defense because the defense has loads of talent already. I've added Cato June to improve the linebackers and help out Demeco. If Cato could not be bought, I would have looked to a CB or a DE. The goal is to help out my top defense players (Mario/Demeco/Dunta) by giving them better support.

I have thought about the team situation for along time now and I have decided to do a trade with Al Davis. The Texans for the Raiders. This should get the pot stirred.Look everyone needs a break from trashing Carr all the time and maybe a new whipping boy is needed to break the boredom.
