Scott Wright's new draft pick has Houston taking Brady Quinn and Justin Blalock.

I am not a big fan of Brady Quinn, he reminds me too much of David Carr and beside he really hasn't proven anything at the collegian level.

We would be better off trading down than taking Quinn.

I'd be ok with Blaylock, but I think he is a Pitts clone. I wouldn't be ok with Quinn. He is a Carr/Harrington combo, and that isn't good.

Not too bad, it could be worse. It's not what I'm really hoping for but if that is what our front office decides...i'll back them.
In the 1st. Quinn was the only guy that fell to us that is "considered top ten". I wouldn't be upset if we chose Levi Brown, Reggie Nelson, Amobi Okoye, LaRon Landry over Quinn. All are available in this draft. Thats a tough one...all the guys i really liked got picked..very well how it could be. In the 2nd I would much rather us draft Ryan Kalil or Chris Houston. Both would address our most important and immediate needs that we skipped in the 1st rd. Blalock wasn't a bad pick...it'd be fine with me but I'd rather the other two...there are probably others as well though. Here's a few ways we could stack up if those players were available to us. Levi Brown and Ryan Kalil (Jets Jets Jets! lol) Laron Landry and Chris Houston (secondary overhaul!!) Amobi Okoye and Ryan Kalil (help out both lines) I like the look of those three than the one nfldraftcountdown chose.

I really think we should look to trade with NE for their two first rounders.
24. Levi Brown 28. Chris Houston 2nd round: Ryan Kalil

I wouldnt mind it but it doesnt wow me into thinking we just upgraded in a big way i loved blalock in college but i hope he doesnt turn into another mike williams and thats what concerns me as well as there are better options available at that spot but if quinn turns into a good to great starter itd change my opinion

Brown is a top 15 pick. He wont get by Buffalo in my opinion and definately not to 24. I would prefer Brown or Okoye at 8 if AP isnt there, no way should we choose Brady Quinn, as that would push or offense back into the introduction stage. Hopefully, for the coming season the only choices for starting QB is DC, Sage, or Plummer, as all 3 are familliar with the offense and should improve the offense next season, where as Quinn is in more of a rebuilding mode.

If the draft played out the way they predict I would be leaning towards Reggie Nelson and Ryan Kalil.
Or Brown and Houston. Either way OL and DB are the order of the day in my mind at the moment.

.........really I don't think it could get much worse than with DC at the helm.

i'd be cool with the nelson-kalil or brown/DB combo, and with the likely scenario that it nets us an additional day one pick. i doubt NE moves 24 and 28. belichick can use those two picks to fill holes alot cheaper than going out and having to pay more than market value for FA's, which they dont like to do anyway.

I still think we pick Lynch if Peterson is not available. If we are deadset on taking Peterson at 8 why wouldn't we consider Lynch at 8 if some scouts believe that he could end up being a better player than Peterson?
He's going to end up being as fast or nearly as fast as Peterson with a better height to weight ratio and better receiving capabilities. |

Does anyone else like Levi Brown??? for some reason i would not be upset if the texans drafted him
but the pick on brady quinn is a risky 50/50 chance, either he will be a bust like david carr or kubes will coach him up and make him a great QB? but i dont think that its worth it, the texans cant afford a bust in the next 2-3 drafts |

I especially like the first 2 of 3 scenarios which Ole Miss Texan put forth. The first scenario was Levi Brown & Ryan Kalil. With that our OL goes from a wretch to good in year 1, and improves as the players mature. Can you imagine? The Texans with an OLine the envy of the league? Not gonna happen overnight, but I can see it evolving if the draft goes that way. |
