If we release Carr, which it looks like we are going to, then we most likely will pick up Plummer cuz lets face it, who is else out there? Garcia? Garcia has expressed interested in taking the helm in Chicago so I don't think he will even consider us.
Anyway, it sounds like Quinn might last to the 8th pick. And for those of yall who say no way, who thought Matt Lienert would last to number 10? Cutler 11? Quinn is far less proven than Matt, and less impressive than Cutler so I say he's around. What do you think of Quinn as a Texan? I don't necessarily care for him, I think he'll be WORSE than Carr in the NFL. Drew Stanton? He would allow us to get a bigger need in the first because he probably will last to the second or third round. His upside is rolling out of the pocket with good speed. He sounds like the type Kubiak would love to coach... Kolb? I don't think Kolb would be worth a pick any higher than 4th round. Any other names I missed you'd like to discuss? |

I wouldn't mind taking Quinn. We need, IMO, a fresh quarterback and Quinn would be a great fit as he has basically ran an NFL caliber system at ND. If he does last all the way down there (and Peterson was already taken), I wouldn't mind taking Quinn.
As for the QB spot. Give Quinn the starts half way through the season while you put Sage in there. |

In the Senior Bowl game, I thought Stanton was the most impressive QB.

Me too nuns. I'm not fooling myself here, but the guy looked like a winner to me. He's a bit of a loose canon right now...but with the speculation of the DC move and bring in a young guy to tutor...I think he makes a good canidate. If they take Quinn that would go out the window of course. They pass on Quinn, I think Stanton should be a viable option under the above circumstances.

Right now I'm leaning more towards Stanton, and I guess if he is there in the 2nd at #39, then I think they will take him. From what I've read, he has all the tools to be a good NFL QB, but he is inconsistent. That concerns me.
Also, where we pick a QB will determine where and what we draft in the other rounds. For example, if we decide to get Stanton in the 2nd round, do we need to draft OT in the 1st? And if so, do we try to trade down and get an extra pick in the 2nd or 3rd? Then, what if we do that and someone gets Stanton ahead of us? Another intriguing posibility is getting Edwards in one of the later rounds. His stock may rise depending on his performance at the combine, but he may be a better pick than any of the rest. He's smart and athletic (6'4", 220 lbs.), and has a good "pocket presence." He is able to avoid the rush and make throws on the run. He is labeled as more of a pure "pocket passer" so Kubes may not want him. I don't know. A lot of questions to be answered that's for sure. The combine and FA will answer some, but we have a long way to go before the draft. Guess we'll just have to sit back and enjoy the ride! JMHO! |

None of the QB prospect in this draft really impresses me as none of them have really proven anything. I would prefer Texans pick a QB in 6th or 7th round.
Edward - injury concern Troy Smith - is better then any other candidates out there but his height is a concern for me. I don't think he will be successful playing under 6 feet. Russel - Boom or Bust candidate Quinn - more I see him, more he reminds me of David Carr Kolb - Is really worth taking before 4th round. |

Troy's height thing is very annoying.....he played with all of his college career and had a problem with it once....therefore lets just say he sucks??????what kind of reasoning and thinking can be involved when making that conclusion?????wow......he wasnt voted as the heisman trophy winner for nothing....russell and quinn are better how??????cuz they are taller?????that is a little bias dont you think????it may have been an issue for troy somewhere thrughout his college or hs career but im sure he has adapted and found a way around it like all great athletes can do......

Drew Stanton. Apparently, the Texans were talking to him at the Senior Bowl practices. They talked to more guys, but he and Kenny Irons were the only ones I recall being named.

We will take Kolb or John Beck from BYU. Forget the rest of them.

The Texans reportedly spoke with Smith and Kolb. As well as Posluszny, Okoye, Willis, McDonald. Probably a ton of players that we haven't heard. You can't read too much into that stuff.

Some times they make a point of being seen talking to players as a smoke screen to throw other teams off. Did the Lions take Joe Thomas to dinner because they are truly interested, to see what Arizona might want to offer for a trade up or to hide there real intentions for another player?

quinn= talented qb who doesn't have the IT factor IMO (1st rounder for some reason)
stanton= david carr to me he has all the tools but without a great supporting cast will only regress...cannot carry a team (2nd to 3rd rounder) edwards= guy is injuried way too often to get a read on him...as never thrown for 2,000yds in college (4th-6th rounder) kolb= hometown kid who everyone loves but will need a lot of time to develop since just like with carr took the vast majority of snaps from shotgun a formation which we do not use (3rd rounder) john beck= classic case of great kid who comes from a university with not a lot of publicity...might be the best unknown at Qb in this draft (5th-7th rounder)

Stanton had a pretty bad O-line, but has had success before. I'm wary on taking a QB from Stanford. Kolb is overrated. Beck is not unknown. He had a good performance in the Shrine game. I expect Kubiak to surprise us with some small time QB, like that guy from North Carolina last year and Quinton Porter. |
