Default Sands resiged by Raiders...

Raiders | T. Sands re-signed
Wed, 14 Feb 2007 20:31:36 -0800

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports the Oakland Raiders have re-signed DT Terdell Sands to a four-year contract worth $17 million. He received $4 million to sign the deal. The deal includes salaries of $800,000 (2007), $1.2 million (2008), $1.3 million (2009) and $4.6 million (2010). Roster bonuses of $1.3 million in each of the next three seasons and $800,000 in the final year are also included.

I know alot of people including myself were hoping that we could get him in F.A. Looks like that won't be possible anymore. What or who else should the Texans look at for DT??

Brandon Mebane of Cal and Kareem Brown are two DT's that come to mind. Brown has all the physical tools you'd look for in a DT, but was somewhat inconsistent last season for Miami. We could potentially land Brown on the second day of the draft. Brandon Mebane, at 304 lbs., would be the ideal run-stuffing presence our d-line so desperately needs.

Terdell was goingto command pretty good money on the FA market and yes he is worth that much as the eventual succcessor to Sapp there. He's a penetrating Dlineman who can stop the run as well. I have a friend who's a HUGE raiders fan. Watched quitea few of the games and i was impressed with his play.

Cory Redding is another good Dlineman stuck in that blackhole in Detriot. Leaves me to believe he'd want out of there cause it doesn't look like it will get any better anytime soon.

With Terdell gone that leaves Redding as pretty much the best avilable Dlineman out there, at least proven. Was really hoping we'd land him though.....Wouldn't be opposed to Mebane in the third AT ALL though to make up for it
