News out of J-Ville.
Didn't realize that so many home games are blacked out there. If this continues is there much of a chance the franchise could move? Can we add them to the list of teams possibly going to LA LA land? Reading the article I am reminded of the times the Oilers couldn't sell out the dome for whatever reason, and we all know what happened here. ( Not that it turned out badly though. ) CAC

Wow, that's bad. I would say there is a good chance they are candidates for a move.

It's not apathy, but too small of a fan base for a 70,000+ stadium.
Houston vs Jacksonville = 4.5 million vs 700,000. |

As far as apathy, I would venture that la la land is probably the largest apathetic market in the country. Those people could really care less if they get a football team or not! (thank god, too!!) Those Oiler blackouts used to drive me crazy, especially because I couldn't afford to go to any of the games at the time. |

The Greenbay Packers play in a city with just barely 100 thousand and a 70K plus stadium and they are sold out. Granted, they are exceptionaly fanatic about them in WI. I know, I lived there for 30 years. May have something to do with more activities available in J-vile.

When you also think about J-Ville...they are in College Football land. Some people don't want to go to both games on the weekend.

I've heard those stories of season tickets being passed down generation to generation..and being willed to family members in death. And the Packers have been around since the beginning of time ..almost.. before the NFL for sure. Anyway, their team is a family business, not just a Sunday afternoon sporting event. They don't have to look around to sell PSLs or game tickets. ...and besides, Jacksonville is close to many beaches ... like Miami, people get distracted... :hehe: |

Yeah, you can't really compare any team to Green Bay.
I heard that the Packers recently enacted new regulations against generational tickets. Some people have been waiting for decades for season tickets, so the team decided that once you die, you have to give up your seats. Wow...Packer fan puts the "fan" in fanatic!

On Monday night football, they brought a guy to the stadium who was number one on the Packer season ticket list (still hasn't got the season ticket). He has been on the list for over 30 years and there are 65,000 waiting behind him. Now THAT is a commited fan base. It will be great when the Texans get to that point. Only a couple of other teams are in that position that I am aware of, the Redskins, Philly and I think the Pats.
