Several have been mentioned (Smith, Kolb, and Stanton). But it depends on what round we get them in. Kolb is problably the most popular right now due to his ties to Houston.

Not at the moment. Just not a good QB class this year imo. ... but the coming months could change that.

JaMarcus Russell of LSU looked pretty impressive. (Which I hate to admit, by the way as I am a Razorbacks fan.)
But I doubt he could last until the eighth pick. Not with the Raiders needing someone new under center. I would still like to see us get Lynch. That way, with either David or Sage, we still could take a little pressure off of the QB position.

What I like about Kolb: He didn't play in a NFL style offense, but he picked of the offense the quickest of the seniors there. That being said, I hear our coaches liked Stanton alot.

Russell Obviously.
Despite the size knocks to Troy smith and Drew Tate both are just gamers. Stantton could be a sleeper pick. That said i wouldn't mind us going after Rohan Davey UFA from the Cards. I think he's a good QB at the back of the line there. I also wouldn't mind seeing what it'd take to get Kyle Orton from Da Bears. He played soild but not spectacular in his NFL starts, managed the games well, and what people forget is his senoir year at Purdue he was a Heisman candidate early in the year before the fumble that took him in a tailspin.

As I've said many times before, I just dont see the Texans drafting a QB the very next year after we passed entirely on the best QB class in about 20 years.
The only situation I would even consider wanting a QB this year is if Stanton fell to the 4th, which is unlikely. |

Nope, none, not after Brohm decided to go back to school.

We will be making a mistake to draft any of the QB's in this year's draft.
People will argue for Russell, but he wasn't even the best QB on his team last year. I can wait for the right QB, because if we don't, we will end up with a David Carr instead of a Carson Palmer. I want to fill our other holes, and let some vet QB, be it Carr, Sage, or Plummer, take the hits this year. Next year should be a good class. Brohm and Ainge should top the list.

I don't think they can pass B. Quinn if he's available. Trade Carr for whatever you can get for him. I don't care if it's a 5th, 6th, 7th round pick or we trade him for a towell boy. Let's just remove this cancerous growth from the team. Quinn should be ready to play soon in the NFL after playing for C. Weiss for 2 years.

if we draft a qb this year it would be too much of an admission that they made a grave mistake last year. MARK MY WORDS WE WILL NOT DRAFT A QB.

To answer the original question, no there aren't any QBs in this draft that I really like. I wouldn't look to take any of these guys until the 4th round or later (obviously Russell or Quinn are worth more than that, but I wouldn't take either at #8, and there is a pretty decent chance that neither one is even available there anyways, much less with our 2nd round pick or later). Drew Stanton would be a decent look for us in the 4th, but I really doubt he lasts that long. Trent Edwards could be a solid option in the later rounds, although obviously he wouldn't be expected to come in and start or even contribute for a while.
The only way David Carr won't be here next year is if they decide to bring in Jake Plummer and either move Carr initially or else if Plummer manages to beat him out in camp and they move him afterwards. No one else makes any sense to chase in free agency and no draft pick can be expected to come in and start for us this year. If that ends up being the case then I think they could look for a QB on the first day of the draft since Plummer obviously is in the last year or two of his career and Sage isn't our long-term answer either. However, if Carr stays (whether that be with Sage as backup or with bringing Plummer in and moving Sage then with Carr still winning the spot), then I don't see them looking for a QB until the late rounds to develop for a couple years as our #3 guy and future #2 that could maybe end up starting for us a few years down the road. |

I'm with Marknoll on this. Smith could run this offense. But there's a lot of tallent around the forty spot. Going to kill me drafting a young QB befor the o-line is squared away. I could see taking a flyer on Jon Beck or the kid from Boise state on day two. Bottom line for me after Russel there's not a lot of difference from what we already have on the squad to what's out there. Scouts dot com has it Brady Quin, Russel and then every body else. The everybody else has grades of three stars or less. I agree with that ranking.
Just for the record, the crawl on NFLtotal access has Mayock ranking Russel ahead of Quinn. I guess Mayock like what he saw on film. Unless someone offers Big Al thier daughter and two ones and two twoes, I'm going to be shocked if Russel isn't the no. 1 overall at the end of April.
