I've never seen him play. All I know is that he was a 7th round draft pick of the Denver Broncos a couple of years back. So I decided to start looking around the net, so I could get a good understanding of what we have in Bradlee Van Pelt.
Seems we got ourselves a little Bad Ass. Quote:

Bradlee Van Pelt will not make the team next season. Not sure if he'll be offered a contract to go into camp.

There TK .... I'm betting that this post was to get people to cut down Van Pelt and then the similarities between him and Carr were going to be unveiled .

ahhh finally some love for Van Pelt. i saw the video and was impressed with it. he reminds me of Vince on how he played in college. My gut feeling says we wont draft a QB because of so many QB's on our roster. I say give Van Pelt a chance not Carr....

I was just trying to find some news on him...... how he played in College.... what people thought of him before he came into the NFL. I saw the thing about him flipping off the crowd, and the "suspension" I thought it was odd that we'd have this "bad ass" on our team. I still don't know how he compares to David....

Yeah video was cheesy but it's refreshing to see someone who HAS a personality, instead of DC's ..."uhhhh, welll, uhhhh" and people said VY was the dumb one.
![]() But Sage should get a shot at starting. |

Bradlee Van Pelt
Position: Quarterback/Fullback College: Colorado State Height: 6-2 Weight: 231 Hometown: Santa Barbara, Calif. Analysis | Agility | High School | Personal OVERVIEW Rare breed of athlete who has a powerful arm, is built like a linebacker and can run with the ball like a power back … Came to the Rams after spending the 1999 season at Michigan State … Missed two years of football (sat out 2000 under NCAA transfer rules) before getting a chance to play … The son of former New York Giants All-Pro linebacker, Brad Van Pelt, Bradlee moved into the starting lineup after the third game of the 2001 season … He started the next 34 games of his 38-game career, joining Bowling Green's Josh Harris (7,503 passing, 2,473 rushing) as only the eighth and ninth players in NCAA Division I-A history to throw for over 4,000 yards and rush for over 2,000 yards in a career … Completed 424 of 778 passes (54.5 percent) for 6,165 yards, 37 touchdowns and 30 interceptions … Only Moses Moreno (6,689, 1994-97), Terry Nugent (7,103, 1980-83) and Kelly Stouffer (7,141, 1984-86) threw for more yards in a career for the Rams … Ranks 19th all-time among NCAA Division I-A quarterbacks in rushing, carrying 420 times for 2,274 yards (5.4 avg.) and 25 touchdowns … His 2,274 yards rank ninth on the school's career-record list … Set a Rams' career record as he amassed 8,439 yards in total offense, surpassing the previous mark of 7,147 yards by Anthony Hill (1991-93). ANALYSIS Positives: Has good size, naturally cut upper and lower body muscles and the potential for additional body growth … Shows good quickness out from the center and back to his set-up point, displaying the nimble feet needed to move and adjust to pressure … Shows adequate quickness in his release point … Cool under pressure and has the strength to break arm tackles when flushed out of the pocket … Good vocal leader who makes a lot of checks and calls at the line of scrimmage … Accurate on his short and intermediate tosses … Has natural running skills that were highlighted in the Rams' scheme, which was set up for him to run whenever he could … Shows good flexibility and change of direction agility when on the move … Could shift to another position (possibly fullback) at the pro level because of his ability to run with the ball. Negatives: Has only adequate height for the quarterback position … Operated mostly from the shotgun and did a lot of three- and five-step drops when lined up under center … Throws with a ¾ arm motion and has only adequate arm strength (long ball tends to sail) … Will play in the scheme, but looks to run too often … Has marginal control and accuracy, as he fails to hit his receivers in stride and rarely finds the soft spot in the zone … His long touch and accuracy are marginal, as the receivers have to adjust too much on his deep ball … Seems to lock on to his primary target too much and will run when that receiver is not open … Relies too much on his athletic ability and needs a complete refinement of his passing mechanics, or he will have need to move to another position … Lacks the foot speed to be an effective tailback, but his power, size and leg drive could see him shift to fullback at the next level … Has ball security issues, as his running style leaves the ball too exposed, resulting in a very high amount of turnovers (26 fumbles in three years). AGILITY TESTS 4.77 in the 40-yard dash … 350-pound bench press … 460-pound squat … 310-pound power clean … 32-inch vertical jump … 9-foot-7 broad jump … 4.15 20-yard shuttle … 6.91 three-cone drill … 30 5/8-inch arm length … 9 5/8-inch hands … Right-handed. HIGH SCHOOL Attended San Marcos (Santa Barbara, Calif.) High, playing football for coach Bob Archer … Four-sport letter-winner, lettering three times in football, twice each in baseball and soccer, and once in basketball … Named all-league in football and soccer three times, and in baseball once … Earned all-state honors in football as a senior … Was his team's football MVP as a junior and senior … Led the soccer squad to the 1998 CIF title … Set the school's career records for rushing and passing yards. PERSONAL Industrial Technology Management major … Son of Brad and Susan Van Pelt … Father was an All-America linebacker at Michigan State who later played more than a decade in the NFL for the New York Giants … Born July 3, 1980 in Owosso, Mich. … Resides in Santa Barbara, Calif. ABC!!
Considering the fact that DC was limted to handing off the ball in the latter part of the season, nearly any QB could be inserted and perform just as well under those curcumstances. Carr's hands were tied to prevent him from damaging the team, and it worked to a degree. |

As someone who lives in Colorado, I have to say it was fun to watch Bradlee both for the Rams and the Broncos (in preseason). He reminded me a lot of an old Oiler back-up by the name of Bucky Richardson - a fan favorite every preseason. Bradlee is a tough son of a gun who will do whatever it takes to move the chains. It isn't always pretty, but he usually got the job done. I haven't seen that commitment from Carr. It would be nice to have someone on the roster who could bring that quality to the team.

Van Pelt was here only because of Sage's injured hand.

& since we are going to be short a starting QB next year, we should re-sign Bradlee to groom.
