Default Kiffin's first test

http://www.ibabuzz.com/raidersblog/2...ns-first-test/

Snippet:
The story making the rounds at the Senior Bowl is that Lane Kiffin's first attempt at establishing a rapport with Randy Moss didn't go too well.

Think Shell vs. Porter.

That confrontation, in the office of the head coach some 10 or 11 months ago, was the first crack in the foundation of the Shell regime.

Kiffin, by contrast, supposedly had trouble reaching Moss by phone. When he finally did, as the story goes, Moss told him in a pointed, profane terms he wasn't interested in talking.

It's been reported on a pair of ESPN radio interviews, and a source at the Senior Bowl confirms Kiffin vs. Moss was indeed a topic of discussion among coaches, scouts and personnel men in Mobile, Ala.

It's worth noting that no one has gone on the record with this story as of yet. Like the party game in which a story is whispered in the ear of one and passed down the line until it ends up being something completely different or exaggerated, maybe it's not as serious as it sounds.

If you can't even speak to your new boss, then you probably find yourself traded to another team. Problem is, Oakland is usually the last stop for troubled football players.

I know the Texans don't want him, but what team would? And what would they give for him?

Moss would probably go for a #3, maybe a #2. The dude proved in 2005 that he still has serious game. His unhappiness in Oakland is understandable if unjustifiable. He's a liability, but so talented. He's just a surly jerk... he's not the same level of nut job TO is. I think given a winning environment and a bunch of teammates and coaches that won't tolerate that stuff he could be a 1200 yd. 10 TD guy again. New England really would be a perfect fit, they've managed hired guns before (Rodney Harrison, Corey Dillon).

I’m not so sure of that. I think they are just in different wards of the same asylum.

There's a ward for those who run their cars over traffic cops...

And then there's a ward for those who "mistakingly" mix different types of pills and supplements...

So, you're right: Same asylum, different ward.

Moss is done. His attitude and give-a-crapper broke sooooo very long ago. You can tell that he just doesn't care anymore.

There's not a place he can go that's going to make a dent in his attitude, IMO.

Kiffin's best chance at success is to convince Al Davis to trade Porter and Moss for ANY draft picks they can get...and then to build through the draft and through more free agency moves. I would move Sapp, as well. Start over completely.

You might be able to get three extra mid-round picks for Porter, Moss, and Sapp. And you'd be ridding yourself of poisonous personalities, as well.

Otherwise, he's going to sink. There's no helping the situation without the absolute removal of a few key people.

I've heard that Minnesota might want Moss back just to sell tickets. The Packers GM picked up Koren Robinson last year, so he's not averse to bringing in WRs with questionable character. If Randy can get charged with a felony this offseason, the Bengals would jump all over him. Moss with TO would be the Perfect Storm in Dallas. And Little Danny Synder will buy anything. Moss will find another home.
