Gaff can thank David Carr for that TD catch because Carr made it seem like Gaff sucked in Houston and most fans thought he did and the organization fell for the bait and he was released. Gaff gets away from Carr and goes to a team with a good QB and he is making plays in multiple playoff games. David Carr, you're a tricky man.

yeah...
it was a little disheartening watching him run around in a Pats uniform, but that didn't sting as much as seeing headlines in newspapers calling him an ex-Eagle prior to the game. so much for a Miller VS Gaffney for an all the marbles throw down too.

Congrats Gaffney, you deserve it.
Just another example of the Pats plucking a player out of the trash. Don't worry Gaff, Brady and the Pats will be back and you'll get your shot in the big game........the Pats org. is just too good to stay down. |

Played in his first AFC Championship game. Good job. But guess what... he still hasn't beaten the Colts. And we did - FINALLY!!!! lol
All joking aside, I wish the Texans would have at least been in a position to make the playoffs. Great season Gaffney and Billy Miller.

Seeing Gaffney and Miller doing so well for other teams makes me think the former coaching staff was worse than I thought if they could not develop those players in Houston.

I never thought Gaff sucked..and defended him constantly here.. too many people refused to see it though.. they were too busy yelling that everyone who had not had a clip on sportscenter needed to be fired. Gaffney was a very solid reciever for us, and had stats comparable to the best slot receivers in the league in his last couple seasons here. Well I like our new batch of WRs too, so im glad Gaffney is doing well somewhere. |

Also.. Miller is great at catching, terrible at blocking. Owen is better. |

Lets keep this in perspective. Gaffney was so good he was cut by the Eagles in preseason. The Patriots were desperate for receivers and picked Gaffney up off of the scrap heep. He is a good possession receiver and fits in nicely with what the Patriots are doing.

Donovan Mcnabb is a pretty good QB... How come Gaff couldn't make plays on the Eagles and was cut? Maybe it's not all about David Carr sucks, but more about a player being in the right situation, or maturing, or re-dedicating himself...

Maybe he's "growing up" or maybe he's finally playing for a team he can be excited about. The handful of attempts to attribute his lack of success to David Carr are pretty transparent.

Slight change of subject - did it look like Billy Miller hasn't skipped a meal since he was let go by Dom? I mean it in a good way - he was kind of small, for an NFL TE.

This Gaffney situation clearly demonstrates that the most important pieces to an offense are, and in this order:
1. The sytem/coach 2. Play calling 3. QB If the those three items are top notch, you can take less talent (or I look at as cheaper players) at other positions on offense. Another perspective is it's a lot easier for the coach and QB to make everyone on the offense look better than the other way around. |

Well maybe he is figuring it isn't all about him anymore and is in a situation with the Pats that he can be a roll player.
Heck in the Saints/Bears game they said the same thing about Benson. Lovie Smith was wondering if Benson was ever gonna get it that its about playing team ball and not about himself. Seems that slowly but surely Benson might be getting it and finding out that he can coexist with Jones in the backfield. Then again Gaff could be out the door before the next regular season starts if he doens't show up like he did for the Eagles and Texans. B |
