Mike Tomlin next Steelers head coach - Houston Texans Message Board & Forum

This one seemed to come out of left field. I've never heard of the guy and I don't remember his name being mentioned as a possible HC for the Steelers. I guess everyone figured that when Russ Grimm interviewed for 6 hours he would get the job. Now he might not even have a job with the Steelers depending on who Tomlin decides to hire as his assistants. This was Tomlin's first year as defensive coordinator with the Vikings. They were the #1 ranked defense against the run and the 32nd ranked defense against the pass. Not exactly lofty credentials.

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review is stating that Grimm is the pick.

Yeah there is a lot of confusion in Pittsburgh today, first Tomlin is the reported coach, now Grimm. I would suspect that Grimm gets the nod because he met with them for 6 hours yesturday......you don't meet for that long without some kind of contract negotations going on.........

How about this: When the Steelers hired Bill Cowher he was a 34 year old defensive coordinator from outside the orginaztion. Mike Tomlin is a 34 year old defensive coordinator from Minnesota. Cowher led the Steelers to a 11-5 record his frist year. The Steelers definatley have the capability to get to that record next year.

Is history repeating itself????

I keep seeing Tomlin on ESPN and in other reports.

Sure he gave up a lot of passing yards, but when you only allow 50 yards on the ground per game, people have to gain yardage somehow.
