I think we might see Gado back in the picture. I am pretty sure that Sherman was behind the trade for Gado so now that he is calling the shots he might put the back in that he wants to see execute the offense. I think Gado never got a clear cut chance at earning the starting job. The week he started he had a couple of nice runs and most importantly, the texans got the win. That was the game that Lundy had a nice 2nd half and not to take anything away from Lundy but he was just in on very well executed plays and took advantage of it. If Gado was in, he would have been just as effective if it was blocked the same way for Lundy. We'll have to see. I don't see the Texans taking a RB in the draft if they passed on Bush last year who was the most prolific player in the draft and no one in this years class equals that kind of talent.

Gado's advantage,true, but I do not think he has any more guarantee than Lundy. Disagree with your comment that AP does not equal RB. Many have said Peterson is much better runner and an adept receiver. Does not have Bush's 40 time but can take it "to the house". If Joe T not avail @ 8th and he is not supposed to be, I would not cringe @ AP.

I agree. I was watching AP highlight reels and WOW that boy can run not just in between the tackles but he can break it towards the outside also. At 6'2 he is exactly what we need I just hope he will turn out to be durable enough for us.

With as many line problems as the texans have had, he doesn't need to be able to run between the tackles, just outside them.

I could see Dayne pushing through the middle and AP going outside. Gado and Lundy backing up. Unfortunately, that leaves Taylor out next year.

You have got to be kidding. All the Texans need is to waste more time evaluating obvious third string talent. I have a better idea, how about AP and DW wearing out defenses every week and opening up some of the passing game as we sport a new and improved O-line.

So what! Couple of nice runs? I remember when DW first got some playing time. I remember thinking "wow" this guy is really becoming a factor out there. He is a player defenses just cant afford to ignore. I know his durability and future return is in question this is why we need to draft a good RB (AP). I don’t know about everyone else but I think for the RB position one year is plenty of time to make a strong case to start. Lundy and Gado are drowning in mediocrity. At least Lundy was a rookie.

Hopefully they learned their lesson. I think most of this year the run game was a non factor. I’m not basing this opinion on any stat but this opinion is based on the way I think defenses played us. Defenses rarely respected the run.

Adrian Peterson will be a better pro than Reggie Bush. If he's available at the eight spot the Texans will be retarded not to take him. People forget so easily what this guy was able to do as a rookie on a good team, he is a big time feature back. Another thing I don't get is when people say he has too much wear and tare, how, he has had injuries that kept him limited. Also the injuries that he did have weren't to his knees or legs...........he had a sprained ankle and broken collarbone. The guy is fresh and without the broken collarbone could be the #1 prospect and pick in this draft, he's a blessing at #8.

While I think picking up AP at #8 might be a good pick - I am thinking if i'm making that deal, I make it so it has incentives based on games played and performance.

I dont doubt the kids talent, but coming off injuries to be drafted doesnt always spell great rebounds. Yes picking up a star who was injured has produced well for some teams, - it has also produced some big blunders.

We need starters and depth on this team - Not more bodies on IR. While we cant predict the future, we can try and hedge our bets a little bit in the contract dept.
IMO - IR has been the momentum killer on many teams in the past. We certainly dont need any help in that dept here with the Texans.

Off-topic - I really hate how the NFL has done rookie contracts and wish the NFLPA and owners could agree on a new deal where the Veterans get the big money contracts and start structuring contracts with a Rookie cap like the NBA does. So many teams get handcuffed by rookies who dont produce. IMO It certainly would have helped the Texans a whole heck of a lot over the last 5 years.

Yea AP really sucks - I mean anyone drafted in the first ten positions isn't worth a crap.

The Texans would be so lucky to draft AP, but don't worry they are too dumb and will screw it up like they did last year - I'm sure they'll come across another incredible find at the combine!

I suspect that Kubiak and Sherman are going to open the doors wide for the starting job at HB next season and just see who steps through. I think Dayne has locked in his position as situational back, and I don't think we'll draft here. I disagree with you in that the talent is definitely there this year, from four or five guys in fact, but we have more pressing needs and I got the impression that Kubiak saw things he liked in all our current stable.

I like Gado, but I just want the starter to be whoever proves themself in the off. My prediction is Taylor, then Gado, then Lundy but a lot can happen in 9 months and we may pick up someone under the radar in the later draft rounds. Or another Mike Bell.

I said it a year ago, I would rather Adrian Peterson then Reggie Bush. So take a really good player this past year, and then grab adrian peterson the next year.

Mario Williams is a really good player, and he will be a pro bowler next season, mark my word.

If we can land Adrian Peterson at 8 that would be huge. But that is the only running back we should draft in the draft. The only one that will be something in my opinion.

Showing promise is what got the Texans into such a hole in 2006 (see Dominic Williams).

Either way, there's only so many roster spots available, and I don't think the Texans are going to keep Gado, Taylor, Lundy, Dayne, Dominic Williams, and AP on the sidelines. Somebody's promise has got to go, and since the Texans would likely have Dayne and Peterson trading runs, that leaves (IMO) only one left: Gado, Lundy, or Taylor.
