I know we are closer to Jan 15th and I think this is good time to see who is most likely to be flop from this draft class.
Plummer = David Carr = Brady Quinn (part 3) |

I think Troy Smith, Adrian Petterson and Sidney Rice are three guys who will go high and have a very high bust potential.
Troy "tater tot" Smith has more hardware than he has skills. Petterson's injuries may be a function of being unlucky. However he will be a high pick and if he does have Jopru desease, that'll be a very expensive 40 million dollar guy. A bruiser like him, you want him carring the team. Not the team carring him on IR. Rice despite his blazing speed, is no where near a NFL polished reciever. He will have to work very hard on his tendency to trap the ball against his body on NFL patterns. Se A.J.'s fight to break that habit. The fact is some guys simply cannot break the habit. A high one on a guy who isn't a polished reciever is a gamble in my book. Jerry Rice, the record holder, didn't have blazing speed and he worked himself as the standard bearer of what an All Pro reciever should be. Sidney Rice has a chance to catch him. The only question with him, is he mentally tough enough to do it ?

Ted Ginn Jr. I just don't see him being a good NFL WR. I see him being a dangerous weapon as a kick and punt returner but as far as being a WR, I can't ever see him being the best WR on the team.

Ginn scares me, just because there's limited marginal value in a WR who is most dangerous in the return game. Let's be honest fellas, Ginn is pretty much Pacman Jones playing offense. Not that they are identical athletes, just that Ginn's a converted corner without a lot of polish, just a superfast athlete. What Ginn does have going for him is he's from a football family and probably knows the game well and can improve his receiving skills. If you look at the success guys like Curry, Bennett, Boldin, and Jones (to an extent) have had in switching positions with football knowledge, Ginn's got a chance to be special. That he's most dangerous in the return game and will rely on route running and hands to get the ball worries me.

Quinn, Leon Hall (last two games made him look like a backup division 3 guy)

Quinn reminds me alot of David Carr, which means if he goes to a team that will actually coach him well he could do pretty well.
Alan Branch reminds me way to much of a more athletic Travis Johnson. That means he can do the job, but is too lazy to ever work at the craft. I dont see how you guys think Leon Hall will be a bust. The guy is just solid, if you think because he is the highest rated corner on most boards and sites he is a superstar then you are likely putting to much value on him. Bottomline is the kid is just very solid. He does not make alot of mistakes, is fluid, has good feet, smooth hips, and is smart. He is not a super athlete or anything of the sort. He will be a solid pro starter that as he matures will maybe make a pro bowl or two.

I think Branch is going to be one of the most dominant DTs in football and really doubt he will be a flop

Brady Quinn: the QB position is such a crapshoot to begin with, then on top of that he plays for the most over rated team in college football. Quinn seems to play his worst in the biggest games.

Leon Hall. He might not be a bust, but wont be the shut down type corner you would usually see out of a top 10-15 type CB.
Players that most likely won't pan out IMO Brady Quinn Quinn Pitcock Sam Baker Samarjzia Landry Eric Wright (CB, UNLV) Leon Hall Quinten Moses Zach Miller Paul Pozluzney Players that will exceed expectations Levi Brown Patrick Willis Reggie Nelson Daymion Hughes Kenny Irons Buster Davis |
