Nah, not just yet. He has done alot for this franchise and I think we at least should let him fight for a spot in training camp.

Who knows, his knee could end up being OK and he might be comeback player of the year next season...

We won't have to release him because he is going to retire. A running back can't play with no cartilage in his knees.

Approximately $4 million, which technically saves us $600,000 on the 2007 salary cap minus the cost to replace his roster spot with someone else.. I give him a shot to make a spot in training camp but before the draft comes around I make sure he does a significant amount of hard running and drills to make sure his knee can at least make it thru that. If it can't then we know he won't make it and we really need a RB, if he can make it thru that much then RB maybe takes a slightly lower priority and he gets to battle for a spot in training camp.

He's a cap hit if we release him, he's a cap hit if he comes to TC and washes out and we release him, and there's some cap hit if we settle with him, I believe. Given all that, I'd rather he get his chance to show his stuff in TC. He's a better back than most around here give him credit for and if he's healthy, he's a real threat. If he's not healthy, this whole discussion is a moot point. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to release him just yet.

No. I doubt anyone will trade for him, and it will cost you no matter when you cut him, so let's at least see if he what he can do.

Westbrook was having similar symptoms earlier in the year..... except of course he played through it.

I haven't seen/heard/read the bone on bone report... far as I know, that's just speculation.

If he retires I don't think we get a cap hit (other than the bonus $$). I'm sure he would want some sort of going out the door prize though.

If he retires he forfeits the rest of his signing bonus and should have to pay us back for that unless we arrange an injury buyout or something, and none of that should go on our cap other than maybe the buyout.

If we draft Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch, or sign some other RB in free agency then yes. If we don't, he better not be back on the contract he has now. Renegotiate it.

I've heard Bob Allen say that his knee was "bone to bone" last training camp special before the season. Look the guys done man just think about it he's gonna have problems for the rest of his life because of that.....wow.........that sucks but oh well its football and it has its consequences his is just a lil worse than some.

Sucks to be DD or my bad DW

That right there should have been the thread-ender. It's just simple truth. Nobody needs to worry about the possible trade or release ramifications of Domanick Williams because he's got almost no chance of being here next season.

And if by some incredible miracle he proves to be the first NFL running back to be able to play with no cartilage in his knee (and in doing so completely reverses his previous position and plays through the pain) then we hang on to him because as much as I like Ron Dayne and what he's done here Domanick is the most talented back we have on our roster.
