I'm just going to post a few pics... don't have much to say, except that we missed so many blocks, & Chris ran through 2 defensive players to pick up 17 yards.

What specific comments/ideas are you looking for on this play? It is pretty hard to critique the blocking etc. from a sideline view if that's the purpose of this thread. I will say Chris Taylor made a nice run here.

This was on our second possesion of the game. Chris Taylor broke off two nice runs including this 17 yarder, and Carr hit Vonta leach for 12 yards or so. Wide open off play action. We were marching down the field, getting the looks that we wanted, and imposing our will on the Browns.

Speed... he blew past Vonta before Vonta could make his block. Effort... he put his head down, and ran through the first defender he saw. Power... # 51 had him wrapped up 4 yards before the first down marker, and he managed to drag him 7 yards beyound the marker(11 yards). If you notice anything you'd like to critique..... go for it. If not..... well...

Hard to tell but it looks like Pitts does a good job of pulling and getting to his block.

From the second picture, it doesn't look like he blew by Leach before he could make his block. It looks like Leach is engaged before he gets there. And if he did blow past Leach before he could make his block, should we be happy about this? Great running backs are patient and wait for the blocks to set up.

seems like a lot of people sleep on taylors ability to hit the hole and go....if he can hold on tho the ball why wouldn't he be suited to be the number 1 back??

I'll tell you what, I've been so impressed by the play of Chester Pitts. He has a nice pull above, but during the Indy game, he made some amazing blocks for Ron Dayne that were highlighted on ESPN.

Pitts is getting better as the years go by. He will have to get better this upcoming year because I see our staff wanting their guys in there.

He has always been a better T than a G but it looks like he is slowly coming around at G. He certainly has the feet to pull and get to the second level for a big man. He's only going to get better. He just needs to get better with his first step and his hands in his pass protection.

IMO, Pitts is probably the only O-line guy we could cut and he would wind up as a starter for 80% of the other teams in the league within days.

Here comes Midland, but I see the winston driving the DT back 6 yards off the ball. In the third frame notice where he is relative to the other O Linemen. He blocked his assignment from the 48 to the other 46 yard line. Blowin' DT's off the line like that are what gives RB's holes to run through.

I won't make any judgements on Taylor after seeing him play mostly in a meaningless game. Both teams looked very sluggish that last game of the season. I would like to re-evaluate him during the next year.
Some players excel in meaningless situations, or in situations like training camp/preseason. Others excel on Sundays. We want the latter. Taylor may be both, but I think we need more proof

even with taylor's quality showing against cleveland, i am still wary of annointing him, just as i don't want dayne as our featured guy either. a mixture of both maybe, but i just cant see how we dont go into next year without some more competition at the position. and no, i am not talking about Domanick Williams, dude is never playing again.
