Its time to use Dominack as the kick-off returner. This was initially the reason why the Texans drafted him as well as a back-up running back. I would like to see what he can do. JJ is average at best & the Texans need to score more points early in the game if the offense cannot produce maybe the special teams can, although we haven't seen Dominack return kicks he might revitalize the explosivness thats lacking on special teams. Maybe its just me but I cannot envison Mosses taking it to the house, he keeps stopping his momentum, trying to change directions & cut back when he just needs to hit the hole and fire down the field.

You're saying JJ Moses is average???
If you use DD on special teams and as the starting RB he will get injured more often than he does now. If he can't be our RB 80%-100% of the game, why put him in on special teams and wear him down even more?

if that makes you feel better its not the first time & it won't be the last :hehe: JJ Moses is a cool dude no doubt about, he is still valued as punt returner/back-up kick-off returner, a good average NFL team player which still makes him elite in the sense he made it in the league to begin with. But to date has he scored any points on special teams? He has excellent hands & does not turn the ball over but lacks either break away speed or down hill running style needed to be a premier kick-off returner in the NFL.

Special Teams dont neccessarily have to score points although it is a nice bonus if they can . The job of the special teams is to win the battle of field position . The Texans were the ONLY team in the NFL last season without a fumble on special teams last season .... you can attribute thet directly to JJ . This season Kick Return teams are avg at best while on punt return's JJ has an 11+ yard avg which is well above avg ....still Zero Fumbles . Hold onto the rock and give your offense a chance to score. There is only One Dante Hall , since we arent the team lucky enough to have him Ill settle for a player with solid hands good judgement and very few bonehead plays , J.J Moses fits the bill .

JJ is 3rd in the NFL in punt return total yards, 5th in the NFL for punt return average, 22nd in the NFL in kickoff return average, and 2nd in the NFL in total kick return yards. There have only been 6 special teams TD's in the NFL this year and 27 special teams TD's in all of last year. So last year for every NFL game played there was 0.052 special teams TD per game. Special teams TD's do not happen often. As long as Moses can continue to get good yardage and field position, I could really care less if he scores 1 or 2 special teams TD's a season.

His average on kickoff returns is 22.5 yards per return. That ain't bad. The #1 and #2 kickoff returners are avering over 28 yards per return. # 3 is 26.6 down to Moses at #22 at 22.5. At least he doesn't put the ball on the ground.

I'm not for putting one of our starting RB's on special teams. There are too many chances that he'll get injured (even moreso than he is now).
What we need is better blocking!! JJ just didn't seem to have that many holes to hit yesterday. |

God...here comes the negative JJ threads...And wasn't it not so long ago that there was a thread apoligizing to JJ about how people thought about him? If you sit at field level like me, you would notice that there werent very many holes for him to run through. Sometimes (as much as some of you don't want to believe) that there ARE better special teams coverage than ours. And didn't he have around a 50yard + return that was brought back due to holding?
Now DD on kickoff returns....please.

Texans84 I thought you followed the draft
I guess you just follow the defensive line or something like that. Dominack Davis was drafted as a kick-off returner, why not take it under consideration http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/draft/394778Finished his career as LSU's all-time record holder in punt returns (1126) and kickoff returns (2168)...Ranked third in Southeastern Conference annalsin kickoff return yards and sixth in punt return yards...Holds the conference record for combined return yardage (3294)...Ranked second in LSU history and third in SEC history with 5,743 all-purpose yards.. |

He was drafted as our kickoff returner, but that was before he won the job of starting RB. Why not take it into consideration? Because he has already been injured once this season and has been putting the ball on the ground.

I do...and I know that he was a kickoff returner. But, to say that he's better than JJ? Davis has fumbled the ball running side to side 4 times....how do you think he would do with 11 people running head on towards him?
JJ has never put the ball down, plain and simple and he gets us decent field position. |

How about giving Starling a shot? I like JJ .... he's excting to watch but I can't shake the feeling that there's a snow ball's chance he's gonna go all the way .... he's as quick as they come and elusive but doesn't seem to have a passing gear ..... NFL ranking aside .....

DD on kickoff returns? Whatever. Give it a shot. We won't know what he'll do until we see him do it. Just remember though, Moses doesn't fumble. That's his best quality.

No. Too much risk of injury. He is our top back, JJ is the return man.
