What do you guys know about him? I am watching the Fed Ex Bowl and he seems like the next Tommie Harris. What round is he projected in? Would you grab him in the 2nd or 3rd if he was still on the board?? Pros/Cons??

we wouldnt be able to grab him in the second unless his stock dropped big time...he is a solid first rounder...he was a 15 year old freshman playing D-1 football for louisville...he's gonna be 20 when he gets drafted and has big time potential!!! I would definatley grab him in the second round if we had the oppurtunity, cause i really want LaRon Landry in the first round.

He is a late 1st/early 2nd guy right now. He is 19 right now. Extremely strong. He is stout and has thich legs. Holds well at the POA and can disrupt a running game. Hasn't near reached potential. Has yet to develop many pass rushing moves. Is a prototypical 3-4 NT as opposed to a 4-3 DT. He could do 4-3 DT, but is probally better suited for 3-4 NT. Fairly explosive and plays with his pads low. Uses his size to his advantage and gets great leverage. Drives legs onces arms are locked and is above average at shedding his man. Has yet to prove he can consistantly beat a double team or consistantly pennatrate on passing downs.

after watching Alan Branch, who is much bigger, a younger Okoye has more moves, dare I say skills to breakthrough protection schemes, but only (this is very important) in a rotational role in a 4-3. I would be the last to admit this but the Texans need everydown players like Mario & DeMeco. 2nd rd. pick I want a CB FS or OLB. 1st pick I want a QB. after watching the Orange Bowl tonight it was not Amobi Okoye the Texans need its Brian Brohm.

I agree with you Buckle. I too, thought I was watching Tommie Harris. TH was a middle 1st RD pick. Amobi was in a 4-3 last night and was very disruptive. He can do that, Branch can't.

Unfortunately I don't think he will be around in the 2nd round. I hadn't seen a whole lot of him yet but after seeing him in the Orange Bowl I have to say he is my favorite DT in this draft, although I want to see a little more of him and see how he works out this spring before making final judgments. Branch is bigger but Okoye has a much better motor, seems to be a little more athletic, and provides much better pass rush, which is more of what we need. However, my top priority on our DLine would be to move Weaver inside to DT permanently and bring in a big DE that is more athletic than Weaver was and can provide a better pass rush off the edge while being able to stand up to the run better than Peek and Babin can.
