'Prime Time' dissed the Texans badly tonight on NFL Network. No, he didnt just tear into them. He did something more insulting to me.
When Rich Eison started to talk about the game between the Texans and the Browns, his comments were "Why are we even talking about them". Rich mentioned he wanted to be through. Deion responded 'They are so boring, wake me up when you are done'. Then during the entire 1 minute they talked about the game showing highlights, Rich was trying to get a comment out of Deion about the Texans. He responded with grunts and sighs. No comments until they Rich finished up, then said 'Good, your done, moving on' effectively. I wrte this at the NFL Network site. It probably wont help but here ya go. To whom this may concern, I wish to voice my displeasure at the NFL Access coverage on New Years Eve/Day. The item of concern was "Prime Times' disrespectful additude and remarks concerning the teams of the 'Houston Texans' and the 'Cleveland Browns'. Making comments of 'Wake me up' and 'They are boring, why are we showing them' are outragous. It gives me little reason to watch NFL Network when our team, (me a Houston Texans fan) hear every 5 minutes about we were foolish for passing on Vincent Young and Reggie Bush, now are being downright insulted to the team and fan who look to you for coverage and information. This concerns me greatly that you will not give just due coverage to a team that isnt doing so well. Note: The Texans finished 6 and 10, and even the Oakland Raiders got much more respect (which finished 2 - 14) during the segment then the Texans did.

Here's the thing,
The Prime Time lineup are there for 'Color Commentary'. They bad-mouth teams and players whom they dislike, and worship those whom they think are great. Yes, it seems like it was uncalled for, however, the Houston Texans as a whole are completely uncalled for. I'm sure there are times when all of us shout at the TV and call DC and Texans names that I wouldn't repeat infront of children. The difference is, is that the Prime Time crew get to do in on National TV. What should get you mad is not that the Prime Time spokesholes made the comments, but that the Houston Texans actually gave them something negative to say. ~Proteus |

any time you write to NFL network, you need to remind them that deon sanders would be afraid to tackle a girl scout.

The Texas-Browns game was the worst matchup of the weekend - two teams with 9 combined wins.
The Texans offense was extremely painful to watch, aside from their ration of one good drive per game. The defense came through while being on the field 75% of the game. The Browns were a comedy of errors. They deserved the treatment they received during the recap. I chuckled when I saw it because sadly, I had to agree with them. Did I say our offense (specifically the passing game or lack thereof) sucks? The headline of the game summary on NFL.com last night read "Ugly Texans beat Uglier Browns." That accurately wrapped up my post game comments to my friends and family as we exited the stadium yesterday. I'm happy the Texans won but I'm not giddy over 6-10 and what I saw on the field yesterday on the offensive side. As far as Deion, I think he found his niche. I was totally impressed with the guy when they rushed him and Marshall Faulk into relief duty as game analysts to replace Dick Vermeil (laryngitis) during one of their broadcasts last week. Faulk needs to stick with running the ball. I think Eisen and Adam Schefter (Suzy Kolber's twin - separated at birth) do a great job. Last edited by aj.; 01-01-2007 at 08:02 AM. |

ugly game or not (it was ugly), i for one would would prefer equal treatment. the chargers & ravens get zero air-time unless LT breaks a record while the cowboys and giants get their own lifetime miniseries staring larry hagman, terrell owens, & dick clark 3 times a week on every sports channel. deon "i cant tackle pudding" sanders shouldnt be talking down on any teams.

I was pumped we won but it WAS a boring game. That being said, I can't wait until we completely turn this thing around and start getting respect.

Me, I never liked Deion he's conseeded and don't know when to shut his mouth.
He's always been like that so its no surprise to me at what he said, he knows if the Texans offered him a job on the team he'd take it just because nobody else wants him.

It really was a pitiful performance by the offense.
I dunno, but if Kubiack really thinks ending with that kind of game (even if its a W), is worth being a few notchs lower in the Draft order, well whatever he's the HC. But once again, his playcalling at times just completely dumbfounded me ? On one of those early first half series, he threw on first down. That's OK and I liked the change of pace, though I thought he might start out by trying to establish the running game. Then on second down instead of running to make it 3rd and 4, 5, or 6 so he'd have some maneuverability on third, he passed again ? Then on third and long when he had to pass, they ran the ball and of course they came up way short for the first down and had to kick ? Sometimes I have no idea what that guys is thinking ? |

You only ask your players to do what you think they are capable of doing....we ran truncated offensive game plans under Capers and now Kubiak does it too. We have had one constant this whole time and it is obvious to me we are hiding Carr and hoping he doesn't hurt the team.

The Texans are not going to get respect from the national media until they earn it. You can't lose your way to respect. If it bothers you don't watch it. Why would anything Deion Sanders say bother you? Everybody knows what he is.

That's kinda the point, really. Call the plays people don't expect and you can rip off some big plays. If you look at his Bronco years, the Broncos would run on 3rd and long a higher percentage of the time than any other team in the league. Shanahan still does it today.
But the playcalling in this game had 1 purpose: to find out if Carr had progressed. He was supposedly calling plays to see if Carr could step up and make certain reads and throws. From what I saw, Carr didn't make them. Then in the 3rd, he put the ball in Taylor's hands for a drive and we marched it down and scored. Then he tried putting it back on Carr's shoulders... and pffft. |

Yeah,
I don't know. I've been thinking there's been an 'anti-Houston lobby' since the days of the Oilers in the league. In week 16, I was really proud of the team beating the Colts, but instead of complimenting us for winning, one of the hosts on another show on NFL network criticized Kubiak for playing Ron Dayne, "when Kube could have been seeing what future they (Houston) had at RB". Obviously Houston messed up his fantasy plans, but still.. can people stop 'seagulling' us? It doesn't help that I'm here in Austin and all the media got swept up in 'Vince Fever'. The Texans ended up a footnote 6 pages into the sports section in the win against the Colts, while Vince was all over the front page with the Cowboys (who hadn't even played) against the Eagles. The local TV channel has all but abandoned the Texans for the Titans because of Vince Young which is a shame, but we all know that they aren't in it for loyalties anyway. I complained to the paper and the local TV station but didn't get a response. Go figure... |

A question to all:
How are the Networks going to cover the Houston Texans when WE BECOME THE SAINTS of the 2007 football season? Call me a Homer but I feel we now have the Coach, and the core players to build the team around. Mario,DeMeco and D-Rob. on Def. add two to three players and we have a Killer DEF. Pitts, Spencer, Winston, Daniels, AJ, Taylor?, Dayne?, and Lundy? add a couple of player here and Off. is what Coach K wants a run/ball controlling style team. I'm sorry if I'm to much of a Homer for some but I still feel our team is on the verge of a break-out season, thats going to shock every network and 31 other teams in the NFL. |
