Max Starks RFA Pittsburgh Steelers
Starks is a starting tackle for a Super Bowl champion. That’s enough in itself to get some teams a little excited about the prospects of acquiring him. The fact that Starks is young, talented, and massive in stature—listed at 6’8”, 337 lbs.—just adds to the excitement pile. Another lineman that shouldn’t be going anywhere as the Steelers will not let Starks go without a fight. The best bet is that Starks will decide he wants to stay in Pittsburgh and sign an extension. If he hits the market, there will be a team or two willing to pay a big amount to entice the tackle to relocate.

Leonard Davis UFA Arizona Cardinals
Davis is a massive tackle that the Cardinals can’t afford to lose to free agency. The Arizona offensive line is already suspect, and losing Davis would be a huge step in the wrong direction, but the team may have to let him go and find a replacement if they aren’t prepared to offer decent money. Davis has shown the ability to simply be a wall of protection for his quarterback and while teams might not line up for the chance to sign him, anyone looking for a tackle will have him high on the list. The Cardinals are more than likely going to push to re-sign him before he hits the market.

Mike Gandy, UFA, Buffalo Bills
A relatively young starting left tackle, Gandy had been blocking for Willis McGahee over the past two seasons, and this season could go a long way in making Gandy an appealing free agent. He has talent, but isn’t considered among the league’s best linemen. However, a decent starting left tackle doesn’t just drop from the sky, so expect him to garner interest from a handful of teams, if Buffalo doesn’t re-sign him before the market opens.

Well I believe it was week 5 or 6 when they played the Bears.............My favorite Defensive Player in the NFL is Brian Urlacher, I was watching him 2 plays in a row he was put on his back by Leonard Davis, when you put The Lacher as I call him on his back, your pretty darn good in my book.

Plus I could care less about what Fans think about Players anymore form other teams besides mine, I have played line and coach it, He is a good one, he could stand to loose some pounds but he can maul, Pass Protection is good as well. He moves well for a big guy.

Sign him ( if the price is right ) ... if we draft a OLT ... he or Spencer could play gaurd the other RT . Winston becomes the swing OT . Weary moves to center .

I like the 3 guys highlighted, Steinbach is pretty young and I was wondering how he would turn out.

Also, a guy who is RFA like Starks, what does that cost the Texans to sign him, or does that give his old team a free pick in the draft?

Say we go after Starks. We offer his a contract to come play for us. The Steelers have 7 days to outbid our offer and if they do then Starks would play for the Steelers. If not, Starks is ours, and we would have to give up a pick to the Steelers for what round Starks was originally drafted (we would give up a 3rd round draft pick since that's when Starks was originally drafted). That's how we got Kevin Walter this year, the Bengals didn't top our offer so we had to give up a 7th round pick.

Let me know if I got anything wrong.

Steinbach is the only FA OL that I would heavily persue. I'd overpay because he is as good a OG as we can find and is just starting the prime of his career. He is the best interior OL we can find. If we move Weary to OC like has been floating around, we need an OG to replace him. It wouldn't hurt to actually upgrade 2 spots in that process.

I wouldn't touch a single one of Arizona's OL. I would not even consider them and would rather search the UDFA's for a OL from a sucessful college program. I don't want any players coming from another franchise that doesn't know how to win. I don't want any member of an OL that can rival ours for worst in the league the past 5 years. No sir, no thank you.

I liked Steinbach coming out of college, but the Bengals line has not been up to par either and has suffered a ton of injuries, I wonder if Steinbach is as good as I am hoping he is

Leonard is worth pursuing. Sure he saw loosing season in AZ but he came into the NFL from winning program. He has root in Texas and quite frankly he is also good tackle who will not be pushed around by any one.

My only concern with Leonard will be his mobility in Kubiak system. I don't know if he will fit into it or not. He is mauler type of tackle.

I would like to see Leonard in a Texans uniform next year myself. This guy is as big as a house. He moves good for his size. I also watched Davis in the Bears game you talked about and I thought he looked good too. I have read that motivation is an issue with him as well as keeping his weight reasonable. Reasonable for Leonard is around 370 lbs. He has been in the league 6 years so who knows....maybe he wouldn't mind moving back home again.

I asked Denver fans what they thought of the Texans starting Salaam at LT. They said he sucked at Denver but that he had to be better than anything here in Houston. And I have to tell you, IMO, Salaam su-ucks. He is a revolving door and we were better off without him.

I'd rather the Texans push ahead with the tackles they have (Spencer and Winston) and draft a Center.
