Watching the game yesterday, the running game got going and Dayne was busting off some nice 8 to 10 yard runs. All of a sudden, Carr ran some play action and wa-la, he had a huge pocket around him and loads of time to throw the ball. And this is with a patchwork OL. Did you see any changes in the run formation that made that work so well?
Another thing I've noticed is this. For an offense that is supposed to establish the run first and foremost, why do they always pass on the first play from scrimmage. And I mean always. First play of every game is a pass. Oh yeah, on both TD drives we had, 8 rush and 2 pass plays. Now that is a running game. Last edited by prostock101; 12-11-2006 at 02:18 PM. |

Keep in mind the first 3 drives Lundy had 2 carries. It's not like we even tried to establish the run before Dayne got in there. I know that dosnt answer your question, but I think it was balance in playcalling more then anything which opened up the pocket.

Once Dayne got rolling is when things changed. A good running game will help your passing game. I'm confused on why they stopped pounding Dayne when they did. He was chewing us up.

big plays? big plays!?!?!? what big plays are you talking about. oh wait, its Hulk75 talking....he watches the broadcast through a reality changing device called the Homerator3000. This miracle of modern science distorts reality beyond imagination. It's the same device used by Astros fans to make them think Bagwell is HOF worthy. Now THAT is true unwielding power. Congrats Hulk75 you take the cake as My Favorite Homer.

We only had one play over 20 yds . That was the sideline pass to Johnson to help set up the tying field goal .
How did that drive stall anyhow ?

we don't have a running game yet. We'll run on 1st & 10...... or 2nd & less than 10...... or 3rd & 2 (sometimes).... When we can run on 2nd & 10, then I'd think we have a run game.

I read one of your post about trading Carr . Look at the NFC central ... attention QB shoppers .

I don't think I'd suggest a trade..... I'd feel dirty, and wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I've talked about cutting him straight up......... however if I were paying him in excess of $8 mill a year, I'd at least want him to hold a clipboard for my QBs.. get them some gatorade, towel their brow.. clean their cleats during the commercial breaks..... things like that you know..... get my money's worth.

I think his contract makes him nearly untradable. a team will simply wait till we cut him and then pick him up for nothing. i would take just about anything to just get rid of him and his contract. We would still have to absorb the remaining signing bonus over the next 2 years, correct? I think we are on the books for the signing bonus regardless of trade or waivers.
either way, pull the trigger and turn the page.

I don't care how ... when the 4th quarter ends against the Browns Kubiak needs to hand him a screwdriver to take his name off his locker . Then he can hand the screwdriver to McKinney .

But you should expect to see David here for the next two years.......... Until Kubiak has his people starting at the other 21 positions, we need a tackling dummy...... David's resume looks pretty impressive, I don't think anyone else is more qualified.

Two more years ... I think Mario would be trying to take him out in traing camp .
Instead of wearing a red jersey ... they can tell David he's sponsored by Target and they want to wear there shirt .
