Last week's three win post resulted in very little raillery. However, I am still going to revisit the topic and examine the 4 win teams.
There are currently four teams with four wins. They are our Houston Texans, Cleveland, Washington, and Green Bay. How should they be racked and stacked? First, Washington has already beat Houston so we know they should rank higher than we do. At first glance they and their record setting quarterback are far above the Texans; however David Carr matched that record later in the season and so narrowed the gap. For the time being I think the Texans belong beneath Cleveland based solely on the Texans' pathetic performance and narrow victory against the two win Raiders. If the Texans are still tied with the Browns going into the last game of the season they will hold their destiny in their own hands and settle it on the field. This would be an exciting match-up for that reason. This leaves Houston and Green Bay. Since Green Bay plays the Lions twice, and the Lions are as inept as the Raiders, I give the Texans a slight edge. This leaves the four win teams in this order: 1) Washington 2) Cleveland 3) Houston 4) Green Bay If the Texans lose against the Titans this week, Arizona and Tampa Bay will have the opportunity to join the Texans with 4 wins. I don't know about Arizona at this point, but Tampa Bay is easy. As stated last week: Quote:

Here is how I would rank them:
1) Cleveland 2) Houston 3) Washington 4) Green Bay Here's my reasoning: of the four four-wins teams, Cleveland is clearly the best in the NFL. They just beat KC in OT. I don't see any of the other three teams with that kind of fortitude. Also, they have beaten the Jets, a team the Texans could not run against. I rank Green Bay last mainly due to bias. I can't help it. They are an NFC team, and have wins against the Lions, Cards, and Fins. That's weak. You can't compare that to two wins against the Jags. That leaves Texans vs. Skins. This was a hard pick. The Redskins beat the Texans earlier this year, so why rank the Texans above the 'Skins? Sure, there is the NFC bias, but it goes deeper than that. The Redskins beat the Texans in large part because Clinton Portis was able to run all over them. Without Portis, the Skins are pussycats. Also, they are on a downward curve, and, IMO, not playing near as well (even though they were not that good) as they played at the first of the season. The Texans have shown improvement over the course of the season. However, I want to make it clear that the Redskins have a good case for being ranked higher than the Texans. Not only did they thump the Texans, but they have wins against the Jags, Boys, and Panthers. This week will be a big week for all teams. Skins play the Eagles, Texans the Titans, Browns play the Steelers, and Green Bay plays the 49ers. Potentially, the Browns could move up because they play the Steelers this week. If that happens, expect the Texans to move up to being the BEST FOUR-WIN TEAM IN THE LEAGUE.

I agree with this one. Green Bay lost against teams we would've lost to, but they beat the Vikings in Minnesota. So I'll give the edge to the Pack.

Good catch - I looked at the records before the Monday night game. Fixed.

The reason I don't give the edge to the cheeseheads is because they upset the Vikings. Most of the four-win teams have upset a team that was supposed to be a play-off contender at one point this year. Remember how red-hot the Jags started? The Texans upset them. For a while, it looked like the Texans might upset the Cowboys, too (and then they were demolished in the second half).

That is what is wrong with Houston football. Houston has so many people loyal to players (e.g., Vince Young, and in your case, Seth Wand), and not enough people loyal to the Texans. I wonder how many number 10 jerseys will be parading around the stadium this weekend.
Oh, well. If the Texans win (a miracle), it will put them in a whole other class of team: five-win teams, and I will rank them higher than the Tacks...

Bradlee Van Pelt? I'd guess not many.

Even our resident titans reporter (mc clain) stated in this mornings chronic (Wed) that these type of fans are appalling, and should be ashamed. He even brought up the analogy that even the cowgirls fans who wanted Romo to start didn't cheer for the Texans when we played there and Bledsoe was still starting. But many of our 'fans'(?) are rather clueless, make that extremely clueless, as to how a real fan of a team is supposed to act. Even the titan supporter mc clain calls out our 'sorry fans' who will undoubtedly cheer against our team and support the opposition Sunday. Hopefully the true Texan fans at the game will be able to drown out the crybabies during Sundays game.Like he says in the article, if you are displeased, feel free to boo your team, but under no circumstances is cheering the opposition acceptable. But I know this is falling on some deaf ears, we will know them by their responses. McClains Article

Runner--the NFL uses strength of schedule to make a pecking order, hence the current projected draft positions:
5 Green Bay 4-8 .495 6 (1)Washington4-8 .516 7 Houston 4-8 .521 8 Cleveland 4-8 .531

It'd be nice to draft no higher than seventh. That might actually be in the price/performance sweet spot.
Not that my thread is just about the draft order.

I realize you weren't speaking about draft order but the reasoning behind the draft order is you are a better team if you have a tie record against better competition.

Not counting the five-win teams, who are currently better losers than the Texans.
