I was reading the game summary on ESPN.com and this quote from Kubiak raised my eyebrows:
[snip] "We made some big mistakes in the third quarter that were inexcusable," said Kubiak, whose team fell to 3-8 on the year. "We were going the wrong way trying to hand the ball off. Some alignment things we did didn't make sense. "That's on us as coaches, and it was the difference in the game. We had a good football game, our defense played well. We needed a play in the third quarter to make a difference and they made every play and we made absolutely none." [snip] Perhaps I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like Carr went the wrong way on a play where he was supposed to hand the ball off. If that's true, I agree it absolutely is inexcusable for a 5th year starting quarterback to do that. I've been a supporter of Carr's since he arrived, but I wonder if he realizes how close he is to being run out of town? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=261126020 |

It won't be for at least another three years. He's the QB no matter what. That's the only thing I'm convinced of.

I could read that as the running back was not lined up properly for the hand off. I guess it's just how your read it.

Honestly, now that i think about it, Coach Kubes needs to chill on these subtle negative jabs on Carr in the media. What good does it do? He's going to start him next week. So why say it?

If Kubes really was referring to Carr, I think he's sending a message to Carr and to the team that everyone will be held accountable for their performance. If you don't do your job, you will be embarrassed or worse... |

I like it, a very subtle comment and everyone points the finger at Carr without a clue as to who the coach was talking about. It could have been Carr or it could have been the RB but were not here to worry about facts only to put blame where you want.

Sorry to point out your misinterpretation, but Spencer showed the played and how it was designed to go, and then the taped rolled and Carr went the wrong way and the back adjusted got the ball and looked real stupid. That one was on Carr.

I think you're right, Carr probably did go the wrong way, but take what Tillman says with a grain of salt. He's said "an uncharacteristic drop by Andre Johnson" about 5 times this year.

Am I the only one that sees the quote in bold? If he was calling out Carr he wouldn't have placed the blame on himself. That's not to say Carr didn't screw up...but from what I gather, he meant "going the wrong way" in that he should have passed. Just my interpretation... |

Regardless of what Kubiak says publically, he is bound to be frustrated with David. He is not going to give up on him until David proves to him he can't do the job and even said he wanted David to fight through his mistakes and not give up. I think Kubiak was more upset at how David played after he threw his interception than over the interception itself.

Kubiak is just putting pressure on Carr, like it should be with any other player. Carr has not played spectacular the last 3 weeks. They sat down Mario Williams for a penalty. They should bench Andre Johnson for a series when he makes bonehead mistakes as well however. Everyone should be held accountable.

Sorry but I saw Spencer and then I watched the play about ten times on Tivo and Spencer was wrong. Every offensive lineman zone blocked to the right. The WR's on the left sealed to the left. All indications, except Spencers pre snap read, were that the play was meant to go to the right. Carr went to the right. Lundy went to the left and then quickly realized the mistake and shifted to the right. Carr spun around and handed the ball off to Lundy from the backside. The most telling thing about this is Gado came in shortly after this play.

Were we not all sitting in front of our TVs saying, "Why aren't we passing it ever down?" This was a game where we had them scrambling from the beginning trying to stop our passes. Why did we not just go pass heavy and gas them from running all over the field? THEN, you start running the ball. To me, we should have passed and then passed some more. We could have dictated the pace of the game. They passed heavy, and it worked. Their run game did NOTHING, and they knew where they had to go to win the game. Pass, pass, pass. We could have done that, but they beat us to it.
