Sorry if there is already a thread strictly on Landry. It seems he is the highest touted (sp?) Free Safety in this coming draft. I like the idea of getting a true Free Safety that knows where the ball is. Is a ball-hawk and hard hitter, not just hit the receiver after the ball is there. Here is some information from lsu's football website. (Cut and paste= kind of like my school papers.) Thought this was interesting...mark him down as my 1st rd pick. It does not have this seasons numbers though.

Yes I've seen the clipings. Just want to see the guy walk the walk...this weekend.. against a team with everything on the line. Is he a playmaker, or is hiding under the table ? Inquiring minds want to know. I mean you can get the guy at Oregon St. a lot bigger, a lot cheaper. This guys supposed to run like the wind, walk on water and raise the dead. I haven't seen it yet. Show me Pea-ron you are a stud worthy of a top ten pick and not another TJ who's going to tank as soon as the check hits the bank. Are you running from the bo bos or do you have a game ?

he doesnt seem like a ball hawk, more of a guy that will come up and make the play on the run, from what i seen of him today, although he did get a pick today, all over the place to, just like demeco ryans

i see Landry as being an extremely solid prospect. Of all the guys in the draft I have Calvin Johnson as being the most sure prospect and Landry right behind him. Even if Landry doesn't turn out to be one of the best FS in the league I think he would be a solid contributor on our team for a very long time. someone we would never look at replacing.

He looked fast whenever I watched him play, but never thought he'd run a 4.35 40-yd dash.!

very true, patrick willis will have a very solid career. i see those as the three least likely to bust...all very safe picks. others not so much, and then there are the other 1st round guys that i havnt seen enough to say that about.

1. Jamarcus Russell
2. Brady Quinn
3. Minnesota-via trade-Calvin Johnson
4. Joe Thomas
5. Gaines Adams?
6. Okoye, Branch, Anderson, Levi???
7. Cleveland-via trade-Adrian Peterson
8. Houston-Laron Landry

I see our FO liking Quinn, Okoye or Branch, maybe Adams or Anderson, and Levi Brown. I think they are the biggest guys battling Landry for our pick.

What do y'all think would be realistic expectations for the draft for us to get Landry? and who do you think the texans would select ahead of Landry?

If we don't get AP, I'm hoping we pick up Landry. Then again it won't matter if we can't generate a better pass rush next year.

True, he'd help the secondar and allow our line more time to get to the QB...in theory. I'm hoping we can get a stud DE that slips the 1st rd with our 2nd rd pick. and maybe OT in the 3rd.

Yea that's what i'm thinking. Maybe if detroit or cleveland don't take quinn...somebody trades up with washington or minnesota to get quinn before houston or miami would.

Washington could use a LOT more picks in this draft.
Minnesota needs a WR, they will miss CJ unless they trade up, they could move down to get one of Ginn, Meachem or Jarrett and take on extra picks.

both or one might include trades so it may be doubtfull....I guess Peterson would be a nice consolation prize.! lol

Cleveland selects AP at 7.
Miami gives us an extra 4th or 5th rder to move up for Quinn!!
then we get Landry and an extra pick!!
