Default Breaking News:Michigan still#2 in BCS...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2668566

Quote:
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- For now, the BCS numbers add up to an Ohio State-Michigan rematch for the national championship. But Southern California is going to have a lot to say about that.

Michigan was impressive enough in a 42-39 loss to the Buckeyes to retain second place in the Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday, by a slim margin over USC.

Michigan's BCS average was .926. The Trojans, who have two more games left, were at .919.

I hope that there is a rematch between MI and OSU. There would be one hell of an outcry.

Hopefully, that would bring the NCAA one step closer to a playoff.

Well, this should bring a swift and decisive end to this "Great Debate" then.

The BCS is a farce if anyone else plays than OSU-Michigan.

If USC beats Notre Dame, they will probably jump up enough to overtake Michigan. I would much rather see USC-Ohio St than Michigan-Ohio St.

I will root for Notre Dame then. I don't think USC can stay on the field with either Ohio State or Michigan.

Actually, I just want there to be an outcry period. Not having a playoff has been lame for too long. Having a playoff system would generate so much more interest in the sport. They should put in ALL the conference winners and maybe a couple of at large teams. That way everything is determined on the field.

Complete Garbage yet again from the BCS. Michigan had there chance & they lost, they should move down like everyone else would if they lost. Hell at least 1 spot. Don't give me this crap about "they only lost by 3 points". Hell if OSU doesn't give them 2 early christmas presents pretty much in the red zone they lose by at least a 10 points.

Open it up for at least an underdog to be able to have a chance to play in the NC. Anything short of a playoff is a joke. Florida, Arkansas & USC all have legitimate grips, But its computers & ESPN homers who decide who gets to play.

If USC wins their remaining games, it will be impressive imo. They have some tough last few games.

With that said you cannot discount michigan! yea they lost a game like other teams but losing by 3 to the #1 team in their stadium is more impressive than losing be 2 to Oregon St.

I guess I'm too used to being a texans fans still being impressed with a team and losing!

Agreed. They are the two top teams in the country. If tOSU would of won out last year after the Texas loss, I wouldn't of had a problem with that rematch either. If Notre Dame holds the last thirty seconds last year, might of happened. IF Arkansas wins out they've got a gripe. Don't believe they'll win out though. And if they do, they might get pushed passed Michigan anyway. We'll see.

I'm tired of seeing USC play for the National Championship and I don't want to see a rematch. I would like to see the winner of the SEC Title game in the National Championship.

would not be the worst thing in the world to ever happen- a rematch of clearly the best two teams @ a neutral site with a national audience witnessing

If there is a rematch and Michigan wins .... and Ark goes the rest of the way or Florida .. then either ND or USC win out who would be the National Champion ...............

Everyone would have a legit case of saying I have one loss I should be the champ.

And USC would just build themselves another fake trophy & pretend that they have won 5 in a row since they shoulda beat Texas last year.

Yeah if it's a rematch and Michigan wins, that isn't fair to Ohio State at all.

Just keep it simple.

Could USC beat Michigan? No.
Could Notre Dame beat Michigan? No. They already lost to them
Could Florida beat Michigan? Hell no!

I mean lets be honest, Did anyone expect OSU to blow Michigan out solely because of the fact they were No. 1 in the nation? I'll answer for you, Hell no for the simple fact that these 2 teams have a 100 year rivalry 1, & 2 because all the emotion was on Michigan's side last week with the death of bo.

michigan should at least move down 1 spot off of principle alone (they lost), & i agree with the other poster above saying that it isn't fair to OSU. On a side note, did you guys see M. Hart lobbying for his team immediately after the game in the press conference? what a joke.

Anyone saying Michigan already "had their chance" is being ridiculous. The point of a national championship is to pit the two best teams together on a neutral field to decide the game. It's a well-known fact that Vegas gives approximately 3 points to each home team in a matchup... guess how much OSU won by?

If Michigan "had their shot" then USC, Florida, or Arkansas should have to travel to Columbus to play the national championship. Otherwise, no, they didn't have their shot.

The entire argument is ridiculous. It's not about moving down "out of principle." It's not about being "fair" to OSU. It's not about getting the best matchup. It's about finding an objective measure to determine who the second-best team in the country is. That's all it is. To me, having one narrow loss by 3 points at the No. 1 team in the country is a whole lot more impressive than having one loss courtesy of Oregon State.

As for Hart lobbying, why shouldn't he? I never understood any of the Ags' outcry over Mack Brown two years ago. It's an incredibly subjective and flawed system... why not do what you can to make a case for your players and your team? It's not as if voters are perfect. It's not like they watch all the games. They're not gods of the sport. They don't know everything, and as far as I'm concerned, coaches and players should make cases for their own teams. It makes perfect logical sense.

Michigan crushed Notre Dame who was supposed to be challenging Ohio St for the championship. Notre Dame's only loss.

They beat Wisconsin by 2 TDs. Their only loss.

They beat Penn St.

Then they lost to the best team in the nation by 3 points on the opponent's home turf.

Looks like an impressive resume to me.

I am now convinced that Michigan would win at a neutral site.
