I was watching the Denver-Oakland game and up popped an interesting commentary by the announcers. Seems that Plummer is yelled at if he over throws his receivers. He is taught to UNDER THROW so that the receiver has a chance to come back and get the ball. That appears to be a Shan philosophy that only the receiver then has an opportunity to get the ball. So could it be that all of you who are yelling about David under throwing the receiver is nonsense because Carr is doing actually what he is taught to do. Some have been commenting more than a few times about this.
I just thought some of you would find this an interesting fact. I've been saying what you are seeing is all Kubiak. Right or wrong in our eyes its what Kubiak wants! I have been wondering why Carr seemed to be throwing not as strongly as in the past. Perhapes we now know the answer. Since this appears to be a Denver philosophy it would appear it would also be a Kubiak philosophy. This may put a different spin on things for some of you. I don't think any of you would have guessed that Carr is doing exactly what he has been taught. |

I thought underthrowing was bad because it gives the corner an edge at jumping the route. But I'm not in the NFL so what do I know. lol

People have really been on Carr about under throwing. My point is simply - and it was emphasized - that Plummer gets yelled at big time if he over throws the ball. He is taught to UNDER THROW the ball. I believe Carr has been told the same thing by Kubiak. Remember, when AJ comes back and catches the ball. That was an example of this kind of throw. That play was by design rather than a mistake. Makes for an interesting debate doesn't it.

I think that the heart of the matter is that nobody on this board is standing next to Kubiak when he's calling plays or running practice so no one can really judge right? lol.

Shan believes the exact oposite of that. I think its a matter of the type of coverage and where the defender is at. If its double coverage then I would think the advantage goes to the defense, but if its single coverage I think the advantage goes to the offense.

If it's triple coverage then it's picked and run back for a TD, so the advantage goes to the defense's team's kicker.

Maybe AJ and Moulds should have bright orange targets on their shoes.

Ummm... That sounds like a bit of a stretch to me. Either way, Carr has a great arm and is very capable of putting it on the money every time if he's focusing.

If you've got single coverage over the top, I can see a coach being upset if the ball is overthrown. If you have a single corner trailing you in coverage, then you'll have to go through the corner to get an underthrown ball. If the single corner is playing you to the inside, and trailing, the ball should be thrown over the top, and to the sideline. If the single corner is on top, and outsid, the ball should be thrown inside. I can't imagine a coach telling his QB to overthrow/underthrow everything. |
